I think he’s had a great managerial career. Be interested to see if he has any money to spend this window.

Manyoo should have stuck with him and made it a long term project. Reckon they'd have had more success over last 5 or so years.

Saw an article about him on BBC sport earlier this week where he said he wanted to be back in football but not in a struggling team and I just wondered about Everton if they got rid of Dyche. Not sure any other prem side would’ve been eyeing him up to be honest.

I think he’ll get them back to mid table/chasing Europe in a few years.

If ever a manager has achieved **** all but been paid handsomely it’s Moyes

I thought he did a decent job at Everton to be honest. Not loads since then but did win a European cup with West Ham.

Not a record that would warrant his continued managerial appointment.

To get Everton to qualify for the Champions League was a bigger achievement than winning the Super Cup with Man U or the Conference League with West Ham.
When you think of all the managers who are actually failures and don’t complete a season in the Premier League, his longevity alone shows his quality.

I think we are going to have to agree to disagree. I think he has been paid a handsomely some for little achievement. Man Utd and the contract pay off spring to mind

If we discount a short spell at Real Sociedad, he's overachieved at every job apart from the biggest poison chalice in the history of the modern game. Whoever succeeded Fergie was on a hiding to nothing.

I’d challenge you to name a manager who has managed outside the top 7 in this country who’s done better?

Moyes was brilliant at Everton & West Ham.

Everton were dire for years before he went in. He built a side that regularly finished top half & challenged for Europe with very little money.

Coleman, Jagielka, Baines, Dustin, Stones, Arteta, Cahill to name a few. His Everton team finished 4th with Marcus Bent up front.

The manager before him at West Ham was crap, the managers in between did a fair bit worse & the manager after him did crap. That certainly suggests he’s pretty good at his job.

Great manager. Did an incredible job first time round and over achieved with West Ham too. They’ve gone downhill since he left despite spending a fortune.

Achievement isn't measured by trophies at every club. Success is measured very differently at every club, and I believe he did a brilliant job at Everton and extremely well at West Ham. Should have been given a lot more time at Man Utd, and as @RichK says, had they stuck with him I'm sure they would have been in a lot better position than they have been over recent years.

Wasn't part of the problem when he was at Man United that his name wasn't a big enough draw to get world class signings over the line - hence they ended up with Fellaini one transfer window instead of a higher profile name they'd been chasing (possibly Van Der Vaart)?

I think it was mostly due to the squad he inherited. How fergie won the league in 2013 is beyond me. Bordering on miraculous! Playing Rafael in centre midfield is something I fondly remember...

Which manager at the level he’s managed, Man Utd aside as he wasn’t given a fair crack, has a better record? His Premier league record at middling clubs is outstanding it has to be said.

He won a trophy with West Ham and got them competing at a higher level consistently.

At Man Utd he inherited a squad that had aged and declined, pushed to beyond its limit by Ferguson and which needed a huge rebuild. Ferguson knew he didn’t have the energy to do it so walked away.

They should have left Moyes in charge for two or three years, given him a few windows and money to spend - and more control over who he got. Remember it wasn’t only Ferguson who left that summer. Ed Woodward replaced David Gill too - and he is loathed for his record by Man Utd fans.

The fact he got only Fellaini in the first window and an overpriced Mata in the second isn’t on Moyes.

Are they better now? Billions spent? Not really. Had there been a bit of continuity with Gill staying in after Ferguson retired, I think we’d have seen something a bit different.

Anyway, moot point. His West Ham and Everton records speak for themselves. He also didn’t exactly underachieve at Sunderland mush as they were crap - nobody would have kept that dross up that season.

Everton aren’t daft. He’ll improve them. I mean they wouldn’t have gone down anyway with what else is down there, and he’ll have them in the shiny new stadium with big clubs visiting next season with a player or two added to the ranks.
