This was made and shared by someone far cleverer than wot I am and deserves re-sharing. In the other two threads, there is common mention of: The amount of Barnsley fans. The noise and atmosphere. The rendition of YNWA by Barnsley fans. There were 16k of us out of a crowd of 33k. The noise at 1h 14m 02 secs as the final whistle goes - you will never hear that again. Ever. Anywhere. The rendition of YNWA around pretty much 3 sides of the ground at 1h 15m 03 secs has never been heard like that ever; the emotion matched only by the time we sang it at the Bradford City game. Sharing again, just cos it needs it. Goosebumps. .
Well, that’s the first time my hay fever has flared up in January, right at 1h 14m 02 secs. From memory, thought we took 17,500 ish, but who cares. Chant of the night (not sure if it’s on the audio): “Where’s your famous f***in Kop?” when the world famous cheeky chappie Scousers had been drowned out for two hours.
The Barnsley team early 80s as memorable as the Leeds team early 70s and the Liverpool team that night , Hansen Souness and Daglish cant remember if Ian Rush played in both games,
Rush did play in both games. Glavin was injured and didn't play at Anfield. As we'd played so well there, Hunter kept the same team for the replay, with Neil Cooper again replacing Glavin, and Glavin came on as sub for Banks. We took an early lead through Colin Walker, and Liverpool equalised before half-time. It stayed 1-1 until the 82nd minute, before late goals from Johnson and Dalglish won it. The performances in the two games against the European champions reflected great credit on the Reds.
