Don't expect a new centre half this window.

The fact we’ve only kept a handful of clean sheets this season would massively suggest otherwise……….

Not necessarily, we defend as a team, often when goals are scored by mistakes, it’s other outfield players who are at fault.

I bet Russ-y and McCarthy-o are wondering what they have to do to earn a nickname.

He's watching a different defence to me. We don't keep enough clean sheets, many times are holding on and in the bottom half of the table for goals conceded.

IF we get promoted it's going to need a big rebuild in the summer to stans any chance of staying up.

I'm not that bothered, so long as we score more at t'other end.

I said similar a week or two back. I didn’t describe them as ‘top’ but I did suggest we didn’t need anyone else in, and they we concentrate on other areas.

I.e. a striker - and a keeper if needs be

Completely agree, as do a lot of fellow Barnsley fans. Wouldnt have been against a loan but certainly not permanent. Jack Shepherd and Lopata to return too, along with James coming through.

Id rather us spend on forward players, whether that's a fee or wages. We have great centre halves.

Bizarre that anyone would think we're in the market for another centre half. We've got 7.

While I wouldn't go as far as saying we have 5 top centre halfs, we don't need more.
Defence are constantly under pressure by our failure to score more often and know that any mistake could cost us the game

Ability to score isn't our problem, we are the joint 4th highest scorers in the league.
However there are only 9 teams in the division out of 24 who have conceded more than us.

It's how we set up. When we attack the centre backs are drawn into the mid field and Connell or Russell don't go wide to fill the gaps left by Gent and O'Keefe. Instead they drift back often clattering Roberts, MDG or Earl leaving the opposition forward a free run at Killip. By the time O'Keefe or Gent get back it's last ditch tackles or to hopefully help defend corners. (If Killip saves it).

    That's not a defensive problem it's tactical.
