Anyone else watching? Ref keeping his cards in his pocket. Two sides having a go against eachother. Bournemouth excellent on the break. Sandro Tonali a proper old fashioned box to box player that seems to have gone out of fashion - he’s covered every blade of grass. First premier league game I’ve properly enjoyed for a while. And it just goes - as I’m writing. Bournemouth are impressive in the final third.
Enjoyed the game, call out for the ref for allowing 11v11 and well done Bournemouth ripped a new arsehole into the supposed 'best midfield in the league'. Bournemouth manager could be next up for Spurs.
Brilliant game & Bournemouth are a quality side. I constantly see people moaning about the premier league & the money involved but from an entertainment perspective it’s the best the leagues been for as long as I can remember. Newcastle, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Villa, Brighton, Chelsea & City (now they can’t defend) all regularly play exciting football.
I agree mate, you make very good points, how old are you if you don’t mind me asking and was you around the year we were in premier?
Yes but only in my 30’s so hard to remember the prem season that well. I think premier league football went fairly dull in the early 00’s with the likes of Mourinho & Benitez managing top sides & many of the bottom half sides playing route one stuff. Most teams in the league now try to play decent stuff.
When we were in premier league every game was like a “big day out”, even when we were getting hammered early in the season. It’s a different ball game definitely but I would love us to experience it again even if it’s against all probability. Folks on here knock it and I can understand why, but surely it has to be the place you aspire to be(if not why have the football pyramid?). Look at Luton they doing crap at moment but I bet there isn’t one of their fans that regret the marvellous experience they had last year. When I hear some say let the big clubs move on to a Super league and we would be better off without them, well we wouldn’t, we would be left with second best..... anyway going off track, but it would be great if this generation of reds supporters did get to the promised land ha.... we can all but hope eh.
Absolutely. I’d love to go up. There were loads saying we weren’t ready under Val but we only ended up losing our best players & getting battered most weeks in the championship anyway. I’d love to do all the away games too. My brothers did a few & some of the older lads I play footy with did every away game. I’d probably end up divorced but I feel like it’d be worth it!
Thing is in football you never know. Although I think Pep has agreed to a 2 year extension to build a new legacy. Won't get anywhere near Liverpool this season, good luck to them 1 Premier League in 32 years, they're due 1. Top 4 will do. Oh, and a slap on the wrist to remove the 115 nonsense. Then whilst Liveroool fumble around trying to resign their 3 best players, goodbyes on the open top bus, City are building a new team to win another 4 in a row.
Hope so because I had a bet when he was at Vallecano just before joining Bournemouth with a mate, saying he'd manage a 'big club' straight after leaving bournemouth. City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern, Barca & Real, Juventus & the Milans - knowing my luck he'll go PSG or Spurs... He's an incredible manager.
Depends how much money Pep gets to throw at it, otherwise he's in trouble. It's been proven that Foden aside he doesn't develop from within - so it'll have to come from the bank of Etihad. I suppose they've tied Haaland down for the majority of his career for an eye watering amount of money, so any young striker they have will have to move elsewhere like Delap has. City's midfield needs an absolute overhaul, as without Rodri there are no legs or guile. Expensive fees for Nunes, Kovacic and Phillips were all misses and the fee for Grealish hasn't turned out great. Savinho does look an ideal Mahrez replacement though. Bernardo and KDB are coming to the end of their City careers too - so Pep will probably need 150m to replace those two. Liverpool this season will join Utd as the most successful English clubs with 20 top flight titles - with City having just 10, they've a long way to go as of yet. Liverpool have developed Gravenberch, Elliot and Jones who look ideal players to supplement the 'superstars' going forwards - as well as Bradley at RB if Trent does leave. Salah, VVD and Allison will all be difficult to replace obviously - and keepers are especially tough, as City have found out recently. I'd rather be in City's shoes than Utds though. They're proper fcked.
Gravenberch had about 100 games for Ajax and Bayern, and was a capped international for Holland, before he came to Liverpool.
