That's because he's earned it. Months and months of constant negativity, not a single positive post. Not one. We won 3-0 the other week and he posted drivel about how he was biting his nails for the last 20 minutes as we invited pressure and Clarke was useless. Despite us not conceding a shot on target. Normal folk are pretty level headed. Sometimes criticism is warranted. Sometimes things go wrong. But there are many positives, we've been on a good run. But then he dissapears. Not a peep. Then we lose our first game in a while and he's back. I don't know why, and in the grand scheme of my life its a minor boil on my bottom, but it really does my box in.
If you think that justifies being abusive to him then crack on. I don't, so won't. Some people are naturally negative, some positive, some more balanced. It takes allsorts. To each his own etc.
I don't think people are abusive - apart from me who wrongly called him a nob. People are just sick of him being negative and tell him that. That's not abuse.
Said it on another thread in the summer Cosgrove was coming off the back of his 2 best games in a barnsley shirt and many fans thought this was his season and he would score plenty. It hasn't been I'm disappointed we didn't bring in a striker in the summer but overall the summer window was good. Gent, nwalki, Roberts, dkd all been good signings.
This post is more excessive and contemptible than anything Scott has posted for as long as I've read this board. You might not like his posts, I don't personally agree with a lot of what he says either. But he's still a human being, and this is a forum on opinions relating to BFC, a club that we all love. He's entitled to say whatever he likes, so long as he doesn't breach the rules of the forum. And yes, you're absolutely within your rights to disagree, and say so. Why not try and have a debate? Just put forward a counter argument instead of pulling him down as a person. You've no idea what people are going through away from this forum, he might have umpteen things going on and he's stressed to death, and a Barnsley defeat, however trivial that actually is, might be the thing that sends his mental health off a few notches and he comes on here, with the safety of relative anonymity, to vent. Disagree by all means, but at least keep it civil. Calling someone who you don't even know, a cowardly spineless toad or a snivelling runt of a fan is just ridiculous. I assume you supported the campaign for accountability online and for people in the media after what happened to Caroline Flack? Well, just think on. Anyway, have a good night all, we go again next week. COYR
Tried that for years. It doesn't work. He doesn't accept anything positive about BFC. This isn't something I've pulled out of my arse on a whim tonight. Oh and stop criticising me. You don't know what I'm going through. I might be just venting. I can only assume you supported the campaign for accountability online and for people in the media after what happened to Caroline Flack? Well just think on when you're having a go at me. It works both ways, see. Edit: let me reiterate. I get why people criticise the club. I get that after a tough loss people are disappointed and entitled to their view. But I can't abide someone who just finds faults with everything the club does without a single positive post or comment. Not a single one. I can't have it. Anyway, time to stop letting him get to me. The ignore button is probably needed.
It’s really not that deep mate, I’ve got thick skin but others may not have in that position… It’s just so tiring watching this club become so reactive to every situation since that play-off final defeat. -the hiring of a manager from the US of A instead of going for someone who could’ve won the league for us. -the FA cup debacle (this is meant to be a professionally run club…) -letting players run down their contracts without having anyone ready to replace them. -hiring a manager that got relegated last year. -we’ve needed a striker since January, still….. the cup game against Bristol should’ve said to the board we need to have someone in from the get-go.
All of those things you post there are correct Scott, and that's the most annoying thing of course!. But when fans do it even though we're winning games and in our best run of the season etc, can't you see how ridiculous it seems. Its not just you of course, but when we're getting sack the clown (Clarke) and he's crap type comments, during a game that we then go onto win. Well you must see why it angers fans, who try to think and chat about it, a little bit more sensibly than that.
I agree the FA Cup debacle was embarrassing Letting players run down their contracts without replacements. Cole signed on a free from motherwell couldn't cut the mustard in the champ with us scored well at L1 level - paid 750k for DKD to play in the forward line, granted he prefers to play as a 10 but we don't operate with an our and out 10 and is looking better in the role. Nicky Cadden signed from L2 FGR on free, good 1st season, inconsistent 2nd season - replaced with Gent cost 250k a player who's played at a higher level than Cadden has ever achieved. Herbie Kane 1.25m deemed not good enough and sent out on loan to Oxford then 2 good seasons - Replaced with Kelechi Nwakali undisclosed fee 3 year deal brilliant technical player. Jordan Williams 125k 6 great years, got slaughtered last year operating as CB - replaced with a proper CB in Marc Roberts signed on a free. Hired a manager that got relegated- joined a team in Cheltenham that hadn't scored for the first 9 games and had 1 point when he joined, based on his games vs points would have kept them up but for their 10 games he wasn't there. Transfer window still open, business will more than likely be done in the final days, hours, domino effect of other clubs getting players in to release the players we want. Personally feel like you are way out of touch of where we are financially and what we can and can't do due to our finances, we lost a game of football today nobody died, chill out a bit still 5th still well placed for a play off place
I think there’s a lot to like about him. And if he could finish we’d be laughing. I still have faith in him coming good. If there was a guarantee that we could ship him and Cosgrove out this month and replace with clear upgrades, I’d sign up for that. But it can’t be easy or the club would have done it. Window has been open for three weeks or whatever.
I think you are highly swayed by the fact that you know him personally and he's a really great guy. Unfortunately - he isnt good enough. See also - Jon Russell.
Problem is that one-on-one’s with a keeper are a matter of instinct. I can never recall, for example, Glavin failing to beat the keeper in those situations. The lad has pace, and his touch is good, but he simply can’t finish, and I honestly don’t think that can be coached in, or can ‘come good’. It’s a great pity, but he cost us the game today because they were there for the taking.
I don’t mind Watters. Really bad day in front of goal, definitely. But rather him up there than the other option.
we lost a game we should have had double figures if we could score, well thats nothing we go again next week, portsmouth lost a fan today who was at a game to watch his team, which is more important, a family losing a family member or losing to a team and yet again having a go at everything i know which is the important one
It’s got to be a mental thing. He looks scared to death in those situations. He’s scored goals, but it doesn’t seem to feed his confidence. He’s currently being given a run in the team and having good chances created for him. A goalscorers dream really.
So, the first chance he missed he didn’t have time to think. Instinct and technique makes him lift it over the keeper or take it round him. As someone once said ‘you can’t put in what God left out’.
