I was a fan of Collins. Felt like it was only me at times. The criticism he got and his ultimate sacking were outrageous imho. However, I'm not going to pretend it was enjoyable football to watch. It wasn't, not even close. He was provided with defenders who couldn't defend and so he set up his team to protect them. This resulted in very drab football, but he got the results which was why I liked him and why I thought he did a good job with a very average squad. But it was a hard watch. This season is considerably more entertaining. We create far more chances. We're score a fair amount too but also miss too many. And the defenders still can't defend!
You didn't see any of what? All last season? You talk in riddles, and if we're so bad and no one wants to watch why have the last 2 away games sold out 1 with season ticket holders missing out.
I'd say he had a better squad at his disposal than Clarke has we lost a better keeper than we have at the club, a better striker than we have currently a key midfielder and 2 decent wing backs in cadden and Williams.
Sorry, I'm trying to use short sentences for you as well. I've said multiple times I only saw the two play off games of last season, but there, I've said it again, so hopefully you can understand that. This board has been littered with people saying they aren't enjoying it, there are tonnes of empty seats at every home game, some of the midweek games it's insane how many people have paid and can't be bothered. But do continue with your contrarian nonsense.
I can't speak for everyone but for me this season is alot better than last. Not sure how you can compare this season to last when you only bothered to watch 2 games of last season. I had tickets for the Birmingham game and orient but didn't go it was too cold for me yes I know very soft but that's that.
I think by the end, it became fashionable to say he was a bad manager. Repeatedly after he'd been sacked, people were saying they'd have done it months before, yet less than 2 months before he was sacked, we beat Derby at Oakwell to go within 3 points of the automatic places, with a game in hand. Up until the rubbing against Lincoln on 9th March, we were very much in with a shout of the top 2 despite the dour football. There were some awful games in that period after Christmas, like Fleetwood, Oxford and Carlisle away where we ground out a result.
You're comparing it to last season, I'm not. I said it was a poor watch. You said it was better than last season. I said I didn't see anything under Collins. You say I was the one comparing it with last season. Deary me.
Sorry I just assumed a barnsley fan who post regular on here over the years would have watched more than 2 games last season.
Why assume when I've repeatedly and openly shared what was going on? Watching a bag of wind being kicked around when you're putting two parents in law into a care home after months of them being hospitalised (each at different times)... doesn't really feature too high in the ranking of lifes priorities, does it? But anyway, I think we've exhausted this exhausting nonsense.
I told you block me ages ago now you follow me around the board try belittling me then when you get a reaction play the victim.
I'm simply replying to you. And you're generally the one that tags me. Feel free to block me, that power very much resides at your fingertips. And now now, less of the potty mouth.
I think I'm probably the Vice Chairman of the Collins Fan Club - absolutely harshly treated by fans and board alike. In charge of a team that scored more goals than Duff the year before. Sacked when 6th in the league prior to the last game of the season. But as stated already, Clarke is also doing very well with a weaker squad. Let's hope he doesn't get seen off my the board after a bad run.
Hang on how would him blocking you have stopped YOU from replying to HIM to start this whole back and forth? You say he follows you around the board but it's you who replied to him here not the other way round. He never mentioned you
Its not just this thread I was referring to the other thread aswell he is replying to me at minute about. Better for both if we just don't converse from now on.
Yes I replied to you as what you said about the summer window was just untrue when the majority of signings have been good ones or with promise.
Some signings were ok, some might get better, some were bad. The overall point I started with was our squad was and still is unbalanced and in a couple of areas, bloated. The window can be defined by our inactions, not just our actions. And if you want to chat about it forever more, my DM's are open. Lets not chubber up the board with back and forth.
