    Any recommendations?
Looking for a getaway for 5 days or so. Just 2 of us no kids.
Fancy a bit of walking, cycling, hopefully some warmer weather, and maybe some live music.

Wouldn’t want to be in the major nightlife scene.
Been to Palma Nova a few times so wouldn’t mind a change - Alcudia perhaps.

Never thought we’d consider Benidorm but everyone tells us how good it is.

We did Alicante in April a couple of years ago, really enjoyed it. Just be aware that all the swimming pools are closed until May and the sea is baltic. Really pleasant weather for daytime walking, evening you'll need a light jacket and long trousers.

Benidorm is accessible by direct tram from Alicante. We did a day trip and it was more than enough. Interesting clientele. A few stag and hen parties, but mostly reckless pensioners razzing round on their mobility scooters at 100 miles per hour. You've been warned!

Alcudia is nice but I’d say more for families, it’s very small and self contained, not a lot to do.

I also thought I’d never go to Benidorm but enjoyed it enough to go twice. It was full of elderly people both times when we went so definitely not party central. Everywhere has live entertainment though: bands, cabarets, tribute bands, magicians, comedians, bingo. You could go 5 different places a night and still see something different every night you’re there (or the same thing 5 times if you time it badly as they tour around the places). Watch out for pickpockets though! I know every tourist area says that but that’s the only place I’ve ever seen them in action and so brazenly too.

The Algarve is lovely that time of year. And perfect for walking and cycling.
Trumps Spain any day for me.

I'd also recommend Andalusia at that time of year. Hire a car, get out and about. Ronda especially is absolutely spectacular.

Funnily enough we used to go to Andalucia all the time when the kids were younger. We hired a car and set off to Ronda, but the kids didn’t like the winding climbing roads. We turned round as one of them was getting hysterical. I promised my other half we’d go back and do it for our Silver Wedding. That didn’t happen. :-( We went to Porto instead.

Trust me, I also thought that! Only went the first time because where we wanted to go was all booked up and the travel agent suggested it (shows how long ago it was!) I do enjoy a good ‘turn’ though. It was just like going to a working men’s club every night with a bit of sunshine during the day :D I didn’t do all the drinking or going to see Vicki (Vicky?)

Porto is wonderful, one of my favourite cities in Europe.

I remember feeling pretty queasy on parts of the drive to Ronda. Once we were there I had to keep pushing thoughts out of my mind that I was going to have to drive back at some point. Briefly considered moving to Ronda forever to avoid it. Eventually got back after a very steady drive. Went out with our friends who live locally.

"Why didn't you take the train?'

If they'd told me about its existence in advance I probably would have!

Alcudia is nice but more resort like. All round the bay are nice small places. I stay in Can Picafort alot and off to Playa d Muro in March for the cycling. The hiking is excellent round there too and not far to the mountains

Soller in Majorca is worth visiting for a small break. Lots to explore nearby and only a short trip into Palma on the old train.

I would suggest Cala d'Or, but April might be a tad early.
