We aren’t going to get a striker in are we…. Still not seen any links to see we’ve made a bid for anyone?
Most players we sign come from out of the blue. We play better with Watters up top, if he starts i don't mind. Just hopefully Bristol rovers was a blip and we return to our form when we won 4 in a row just before Bristol.
Whilst I am very happy with the run of 4 wins in a row, and down about the Bristol result, if you extend the number of games to assess our form, it's not so great:
Now I’ve overcome the trauma, I suppose the positive you can take from Watters performance at Bristol, is he was in the right place umpteen times. He should definitely have scored at least one goal, but out of 26 attempts, it took a centre back to score our only goal. It was that kind of day at a bogey ground. I’ve no problem with him being involved at the weekend if he’s getting into those positions.
Will Watters be fit? He seemed to get a knock early in the 2nd half on Saturday. However, that is no excuse for poor finishing in the 1st half.
Drop em. Douglas barder and stephen hawkings more chance of scoring. 22 days into jan no strikers bought or loaned the club is a ******* laughing stock. Owners OUT
There's now been 32 completed incomings by teams in our division. Quite a lot of those are for Peterborough who seem to have hoovered up a load of other league 1 teams fringe players on loan. There's still teams yet to make a signing. The January window is always slow, I honestly don't get how some people still can't grasp that.
We'll be reight, on our day we can beat anybody in this league, long way to go, lot of points to play for, keep the faith, C,O,Y,R.
To say we are up challenging for the playoffs with a forward line thats consisted of Cosgrove, Watters, Marsh, Jalo for most of the season is remarkable really. Ratio wise all are probably putting 1 away in 10 attempts. Jalo one for the future but not ready yet. I get that but put these up against any club in the top 10 and you will struggle to find 4 options as bad. Hoping that the silence of the window so far results in a signing out of the blue from somewhere that inspires fans and the team. Gets people excited and creates abit of a buzz.
It's consisted of DKD and Stephen Humphrys much more regularly than it has Marsh, Jalo and Cosgrove. Maybe even Watters too given his injury record. Given the size of the squad (considering when you factor in that Dallas is back at the club too) and listen to Clarke's comments regarding players moving on, I think we've struggled to get a few out of the door which might be the hold up on incomings. There's less money sloshing around in January, which makes it harder to recruit, particularly for a striker. Which is why I've no doubt, we'll end up with a striker on loan.
Id rather we play Humphrys on Saturday but if it is Watters then good luck to him and maybe a goal or two could fire his confidence.
We’ve been saying that since August though. He’s a grafter and makes great runs but the lad can’t finish his dinner.
I did some digging around for stats on appearances and starts for the forwards: Source: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/football/team/barnsley/stats/
Very true, the problem is we can't keep dishing 4 year first team contracts out without having a plan for that player.
