It’s absolutely awful, my son takes his test next week.if he passes I just won’t let him hang out with friends in the car, specific journeys only.

4 young lads in a Seat Ibiza on a country lane, no other cars involved. Doesn't take much to work out what's gone off there, as tragic as it is nevertheless.

Hopefully your young lad is sensible. Doubt you will be able to tie him down without a huge fight.
I’m sure he will be fine but I do see your concerns

It's scary. But the best way to get experience is to drive as much as possible. It's a conundrum but speed kills

It can’t be no coincidence that these tragedies happen when there is car full of young lads.I,m afraid some kind of law needs to be brought in don,t know what that could be though.

Sad waste of more young lives. Too many drivers think they are invincible.

It past time now for the government to introduce graduated licenses. No driving at night and no back seat passengers for the first 2 years after passing your test. Young kids, particularly lads, will always have the urge to show off and believe they are immortal. These incidents seem to be happening more and more.

I disagree. If you have a job/ apprenticeship you may well need to drive at night. I think in some ways there are less accidents because it's more expensive to actually drive. There's no point passing your test if you're not allowed to actually drive.

But just think of it as an extended provisional period. You might have a job and need to drive at night but you're not allowed to until you've passed your test. This just means that you're not allowed to until you've passed your graduation period.

They do this in Australia and it apparently works well.

A logical idea in principle but how does one enforce that?

What do you suggest then Helen let these tragic accidents carry on then.nobody is saying you can’t drive at night, but they need to stop this showing off in front of their mates, look how fast I can drive, where their driving skills are not up to scratch.

Ok then. And everyone over 70 should be banned too as they are in too many accidents.

Or we can accept that everyone is an individual.

And we can stop being disrespectful and just making blind assumptions on what has taken 4 lives.

For all you know it could have been an animal running out that they've swerved to avoid or a mechanical problem. But no you've just assumed someone was "showing off" based on **** all but their ages

I don't think we should bring in a law that stops young getting on in life. Maybe they are aloud to drive at night but without passengers to allow them too and from somewhere but not driving round with a car full of mates. I don't know what's happened in this terrible accident but inexperienced young driver's been egged on by a car full of young people is receipt for disaster.

I have just paid for my grandson’s first driving lessons, and I have to admit that I have major misgivings. It seems to me that the standard of driving generally is appalling at the moment, without adding young people trying to impress their mates into the mix.

Were they wearing seatbelts, that is another question.
