Not bone idle but has absolutely no bottle whatsoever. Never attacks a ball into the box, just waits for things to happen. Also never even leaves the ground to challenge for a header. Time to admit it…..he’s a terrible player at this level. Spineless.
Was saying this today. He doesn’t seem to have the character to be better than just a squad player. Sadly the majority of the others played the same way today.
The problem is, who do we bring on? Cosgrove hasn’t produced time after time, so the managers hands are tied!! We need a big quality striker, someone who can win headers and hold the ball up. When balls go into the box we don’t have a hope in hell right now!
Its a total waste of time trying to explain this to him Frog. And I can't see actually, where he's given Clarke chance after chance. When was that few minutes, I must have missed it lol.
Ahh in season '86 I believe, when we'd sold David Hirst to Sheff Wensdy. And I think we tried to sign Carl Bradshaw from them after his loan, but it didn't happen. But thinking back to those days, I thought we had Roger Wylde and John MacDonald as the main two up front ?.
Watters was bad today, I’d even say terrible. I will be honest in saying he’s looked better under Clarke than under Collins, but his touch, his unwillingness to properly challenge for a header (he just looks at the defender and half heartedly jumps into them) and importantly his overall ability frustrates me massively. The instance in the second half when the ball went into him on the left hand side of the pitch with him racing into the 18 yard box summed it up as to why he is not a striker we can rely on, and unfortunately don’t think we ever will be able to, most strikers would have ran further into the box and tried getting it on his stronger side to finish in the far corner. He forced himself wide and put in a terrible cross. I’ve tried to trust both him and cosgrove many a time and give them chance but I think I can’t anymore. The bad thing is, the manager doesn’t seem to fancy humphs up top but for me I need to see him in. My patience with watters has broke. But he wasn’t the only pedestrian today, there were probably 6/7 others. I can only genuinely give credit to Nwakalis first half, DKD, Farrugias attacking intent and for once I’ll admit O’keefe Continues to get better. But either way if he’s on the pitch I’ll aim to give him my support, in the mean time I hope to god we sign a striker soon who can help us. As always, onwards and upwards, you reds!
We should go back to Mael, Pines & Earl (I know McCarthy was involved in our winning run of form too), but for me that's certainly what I'd go with going forward until others can force their way back in. Roberts hasn't been the same since coming back from injury, in fact, he's looking as bad as he did at the back end of his Birmingham stay
No way was he worse than Roberts for example.p,and there were others. Like I said before, a very poor team performance, but Watters doesn’t deserve to be singled out.
Glad someone agrees with me, Clarke hasn't a clue. Coaches and managers are getting sacked left ,right and centre for a lot less than this clown is doing
Doesn't alter the fact that Clarke hasn't much idea, very often picks the wrong team, nearly every match he makes the wrong substitutions, either putting wrong players on or taking the wrong ones off. MY opinion is we do have some half decent players in the club and when they play well we get wins, but a lot of the time these same players are told by Clarke to play certain ways and do certain things which, that is what he is supposed to do but every time the players do listen to him it is the wrong way
Do you honestly think we’ll actually finish top 6 though? I really don’t see it myself. We’re so easy to set up against at Oakwell it’s frightening. We’re getting progressively worse each season. Maybe we’ll recruit a couple of key players this week to turn things around but really doubt it.
And maybe we won't, I think we are waiting on loan players. Which is OK in the short term but not if we really do have ambition to improve
I think the big issue at home is we don’t have wingers & dribblers. When a team turn up to your ground & look to contain you & don’t leave you much space you need players with a bit of magic who can go past people. I think it’s more of a failure in recruitment than coaching. We’re constantly looking for the perfect pass or Phillips or DKD getting the space for a shot from distance but there’s normally very little space for it.
