Killip MDG (If fit, If not then McCarthy) Pines Earl O'Keefe Russell Nwakali Phillips Farrugia DKD Humphreys Subs Smith Roberts Gent/McCarthy Connell Cosgrove Lofthouse Watters
There’s a reason why McCarthy is 5th choice CB - hurrendous player & shouldn’t be here come the end of this window.
Farrugia could play LW with Earl at LB. Immaterial anyway cos we’re stuck with 3 5 2. To be fair it’s usually effective away it’s at home where it doesn’t work.
True about Farrugia. I'm just sick of this 5311 thing. It's failing. It's the Tottenham of formations. Looks smart, but ends up failing when it matters, especially if you haven't got the in game management right. Subs should be used properly by mixing it up, eg bringing a like for like defensive sub on when we should've put an attacking option on yesterday. You need urgency and dark arts in this league, I was hoping Conor would've been training some dirty tactics into them as a coach. Seems like we've got softer against these kinds of teams
Drop a striker, strengthen the midfield, the strikers cant do the job, lets try a new angle, 4, 5, 1.
Controversial opinion I think your team is a decent shout but I’d start Watters over Humpries. Based on his away performances not the home ones. Bring Humpries on for the last 30 mins against a tiring defence
I think we've seen yesterday Nwakali and Connell can't play together in this system. As much as Robbo was up there with anyone for player of the season he's struggled since coming back from injury. So Pines gets a start and as much as I'm not a big fan of Russell with the absence of a alternative he plays in place of Connell for me.
If connell plays it needs to be in a deeper role, although he played that v Bristol and was poor so Clarke decided to play him further forward and nwakali in the deeper role.
I reckon Pines could do a job up top. I wasn't there but my dad told me the Eric Winstanley hat trick story (a million times ).
I wouldn't even mind that not like the others are impressing. I think his minutes per goal ratio is better than most our strikers. Not like he can be any worse.
