Some games have been good, some have been poor and some have been meh. Thats the level of my analytic skills.
Which home games come under good? I’m going Wrexham, Rotherham, Birmingham and most of Northampton. Any others?
Barnsley are amazing!!!!! Just need to work on their short + long passing, shooting, movement off the ball, positioning, crossing, decision-making, set pieces, man-marking, dribbling, fitness, ball control, tackling, counter-attacking, overlapping, running, blocking & scoring goals.
It wasn't just the 'over reaction' mob on here though last night. It was the 'sack the manager' mob again who are even more annoying to be honest.
I think we should easily make the top 6. I don’t think we’re great by any means. I think the division is poor. I think ongoing negativity could scupper it though. I realise that comes from performances / results but some of the overreaction could be really damaging. Example: “Max Watters is the worst player for Barnsley in 38 years of watching. Totally ineffective.” (Or words to that effect on Twitter). It’s just untrue. An overreaction. A lie. And a potentially very damaging one. The truth is that Watters has scored several goals and made several assists. He’s missed some absolute sitters. In some games he’s played pretty well and contributed. He’s nowhere near the worst player in 38 years. See Frimpong, Mido, Michael Smith, Deon Burton, etc etc. He’s our player and for now he’s in the first 11. We’d do ourselves a favour by getting behind him not pulling him to bits with untruths.
in terms of regular first choice strikers not bit part players or loans who do you think is worse than Watters? I like Max and think he offers something but I can’t remember anyone who was automatic first choice who was worse. In no way a comment on Max be puts the effort in every time.
Or maybe throw them all in the ring together, in the centre circle at Oakwell. And watch them thrash the hell out of each other lol. There's your half time entertainment sorted out.
Mossto, Jeronimo, Ian Moores, Michael Mifsud, Richard Naylor, Fola Onibuje, Dave Regis, Maceo Rigters, Connor Wilkinson, Tommy Wright, Michael Boulding Darren Foreman, Ian Chandler.cosgrove i can’t remember if some of these were loans but I think it’s worth remembering Watters has only been automatic first choice for about a dozen games. His goal involvements per minutes are up there with the best in the present team?
Yeah I agree but he’s not been selected as one by this manager or the last I’m talking about someone who fans and manager see as first choice.
None of those were automatic first choice strikers. Foreman for example was miles better scored at a higher level but was never first choice. I am talking about a forward when fit who was automatic first choice who was worse. I can think of no one. At the minute if he stays fit and we sign no. one I’d expect max to play 30 + games. Which if you added all the games played by the first 10 as first choice starters would be more.
I’m a realist and I have been through the ups and downs of this club for many years. But I honestly can’t recall as many miserable home performances as I’ve had to sit through over the past couple of seasons. If you are interested in watching decent football, regardless of results, Oakwell is definitely not the place to be. The fact that we usually lose just makes it worse. I said to my friends at halftime that my visit to the dentist a couple of days earlier had been more fun. I meant it. For the sake of the club and its supporters something needs to change, and soon.
I reiterate - he’s only been first choice for around 12 games. And he’s nowhere near being the worst player in 38 years - which was my point. Oh and John Pearson.
