    Won't get anywhere without one.

    Only a few days left.

Not disagreeing but we probably need a new 11, if we just do the basics better we will get abit further. Such as not letting a ball bounce when defending, closing players down faster, not been caught flat on our heels constantly.

Absolutely. There were a few basic communal errors to add to the list tonight. I thought that MDG was the one who created murder and mayhem throughout the defence by wanting to be Kaiser Franz at the back. The last 2 games have made him look like a steadying influence.

Plus MDG brings the ball out and gives us a bit of class. Earl sometimes has done it but not recently. For now we're left not knowing what to do.

We don't have that mobile midfielder who runs and moves.

I disagree a box to box midfielder wouldn’t solve the issues in Midfield. MDG has to do what he does because our midfielders positional play is shocking with or without the ball.
It makes the omission of Nwalki all the more baffling as he should be our base.

He’s not exactly box to box these days but I feel like every time we’ve played Wycombe in the past couple of seasons Josh Scowen has been the best or certainly one of the best players on the pitch.

A terrific player who was overshadowed by excellent players like Hammill, Hourihane & Winnall in his time with us but I’d argue no one was as consistent as Scowen was during his time with us. Did anyone ever come away from a game saying ‘Scowen was poor today’.

Even when most of his mates had left & we were dropping down the table with his contract running out & nothing to play for I still thought he was one of the better performers. A class act & Wycombe are very lucky to have him as I’m pretty sure family ties took him back there rather than him going to the club offering the biggest wage.

Our midfielders play is shocking because they display no mobility. They're all the same. Can't move. Can't run. We've shoved Russell further forward cos he can't run to get forward. OK he's a bit more creative and goal threatening but he runs through treacle.

We put Connell further forward and he's crap there too, neither of them, him and Russell, nor Nwankali, can run back fast and cover when needed.

Have you seen them run back to goal?

Football's a game of running as much as it is passing.

So, a central mover we need. Not least because the wide players are sub standard.

But he would just be bypassed as he’s one person.
Football is about playing as a unit not 11 individuals, we don’t play as a cohesive unit until that is addressed we will always have issues.
Don’t get me wrong id love a box to box guy in the team (who wouldn’t) but he won’t solve our problems.

Have you ever seen Connell run forward with the ball at pace, or beat a man?

Same with Nwankali. And Philips, and Russell.

They all know there’s no point running forward with the ball cos they can only stand still and then drill it.

Watch other teams and see what really talented midfielders can do. Not winger trickery, just driving your team forward. A swerve and then you’re nearer to goal. You don’t have to be Glavin or Redfearn, but it helps.

It won't solve all the problems. I happen to think it will solve enough of them in order to get us into the top 6 if the coach can do his job with regard to everything else.

Plus it'd be a hell of a lot better to watch.

agreed. Precisely the type of player that’s required in this league imho.

Like I said I’d love that type of player but the priority should be getting the Midfield playing as a unit as part of a team instead of a group of individuals. With correct coaching and set up we have the players to make enough difference in this league.

Absolutely correct. A terrier like midfielder similar to the lad with dreadlocks for Stevenage or another like Josh Scowen in his prime. We ain’t getting one anytime soon cos we’re stocked with midfielders anyway. The spreadsheet won’t identify that type of player either. Therein lies our problem…..

The three positions in football defence midfield and attack need balance people with a skill that compliments each other. We just don't have that and midfield the engine room of any side needs energy and drive. I understand he got the goal but any side who plays Russell needs 2 or 3 around him to do his running because he can't. The whole squad is unbalanced and there's no way that's going to be solved in January.
