Glad he realises it was stupid. People talk about experience but that was really niave and you would expect it from a young lad not experienced pro.
In Marc's defence, he was looking to get the ball out of play before that player nipped it past him and beat him for pace....again. The situation morphed into something else with the crowd reaction which wasn't his intent. Every Wycombe forward was faster and stronger than every Barnsley defender. They just constantly played litle balls over the top and they were away. They knew we were slow at the back and just employed that tactic again and again.
I think we've got the slowest defence in the league. Last season we were told that Williams was playing centre back because we had nobody else with any pace. This season we've swapped Williams for a 34 year old who's usually blowing out of his arse after 5 minutes
I get all these points and it's a daft tackle in a neutral area but that's never been a red. Not excessive force, not high. Yellow every day for tackle from behind where he got ball first. It just is. Who knows if it woukd have changed anything but should have finished 11v11
Losing two strikers could increase the need for new signings but Clarke would not comment on progress in the transfer window other than to say the club was continuing to work hard behind the scenes. Which 'two strikers' would they be then? I mean I saw Watters and Humphreys go off injured but..............................
