Many UK seaside resorts are an expensive holiday, another reason why many go abroad, and I’m someone who regularly holidays in the UK

I'm taking Mrs K to Edinburgh for her 50th in a couple of weeks. Train and hotel for 3 nights booked. Was looking on Jet2 the other day, could have had a week in Spain cheaper.

Me and Mrs Mac love Carvoeiro on the Algarve, and Filey on the east coast. Last September, a week in the former, with flights, transfers andhotel / breakfast, worked out £200 cheaper than driving to, and staying in, the latter.

    Not that straight forward.

It’s more environmentally friendly to have planes land than just stack them circling round London waiting for a gap to land - as is the current position. That’s where a lot of pollution comes from.

Long term, aviation fuel will move to a more synthetic blend, which will produce less co2 and nox etc, which means these issues will be tackled a lot more.

This is just a ridiculous decision. And the move to reduce environmental laws while hindering legal challenge, this is really grim.

On top of that we're going to have 1.5m houses built to substandard levels requiring retrofitting to contend with climate change.

Some very poor choices in the name of 'growth'.

Improve transport to these places though, and they will pick up. You need to improve public transport first though, no other way about it. And it needs to be cheaper/easier for a family to get to the coast in this country by train than it is by car.

Very bad decision on so many levels. The environment being the main one but includes the rehoming of about 10,000 people.
And I'd love to know where the carbon neutral airliners are coming from.

Ahh, the desire for infinite growth inside an environment with a limited capacity to deal with that growth.

If only biology had a name for this....

It’s not just transport costs though.
