No-one wants to come here, ‘the recruitment team who’re working hard behind the scence’ aren’t able to convince a player to join. Sack the lot.
BMH - ‘well at least we tried to sign a player, that’s the positive thing… it’s not the clubs fault he rejected us’.
It may not be, unless you know different. Perhaps he doesn’t want to move up North, but I don’t know so I’ll not apportion blame or speculate as to why
Jordan Williams probably told him not to bother! Even if it’s down to location issue, it’s not a good look & things just keep mounting up for us. I have absolutely no faith in the people running the club to get any deals of any quality over the line before the windows end.
Killip will be well chuffed that having kept us in more than a couple of games, and looking at the shambles of a defence infront of him, he's the one they're looking to change out first.
Great to have that leak out… I’m sure it’ll do Killip’s confidence the world of good, and gives the naysayers even more ammunition to fire at the club and its recruitment strategy.
Shouldn't be going for a goalie at the moment, whether this is true or not. Its misplaced attempted recruitment for now. Its not priority (unless there's a big drive to replace lots of players by the summer). It just scans wrong at this moment.
Perhaps we told him that he wasn't guaranteed a start because Killip is playing well and deserves to keep his place in the side, and he didn't fancy moving to Barnsley to warm our bench.
I suspect they are trying to loan out Smith and bring in someone to compete with Killip. Have to agree with the sentiment that it's neither a priority and a cracking way to p*ss on Killip's chips even more after a man of the match display that nearly got us an undeserved point.
He's been MoM last few games.. but that still doesn't alter the fact if you put him under any kind of pressure in his 6 yarderfrom a corner, he poo's his pants. Never fall in love with a small goalkeeper.
Despite what people think, we’re a L1 club, and not that tinpot. Yes, perhaps a keeper ain’t a major concern at the moment, but the club will have targets lined up for all positions regardless. None of this is knee-jerk to results, we’ve known for a while. Killip has done well to date, but I’m not sure he’s the long term answer - that’s Smith. And perhaps he’s not looked as good either yet, so we’re looking again. Point is, we’ve the ability and structure to sign 10 players if we needed to, not just focus on one position.
