I thought we had that with McCarthy coming back into the squad. Until the last couple of games where he seems to have left his brain in the changing room
People make a snap decision on first sight then spend every subsequent game looking for evidence to back up their initial, oft flawed, assessment. Everything is black or white.
I've not seen much of McCarthy to judge him well enough to be honest and it feels like he's been messed about and not fancied in between a horrible lengthy injury. He must know he's going to be out of the door and probably wants to be too. It was a poor bit of play but probably no worse other passages of play and some dreadful mistakes, just his culminated in us conceding.
I do agree. There are certain people on here I disregard when they criticize certain players, for exactly that reason. They've decided early on that A. N. Other are no good, and then every game cannot wait to comment on, and emphasize their errors, which everyone makes, and ignore the 85+ minutes where they were OK, or even good.
I thought Toney wasn't very good when he was on loan. I think management at the time got it right. Look at him now though - he's better than Dave Regis.
Shown it to 6 non-reds fans at work today and asked their thoughts. All 6 said it was an absolutely mental challenge and a clear cut red. For balance they were about 50/50 on the penalty, 3 said it was, 3 said it wasn't but all 6 said it was a clear red.
It must be hard when he's being asked to play left centre back one day, middle the next and right centre back the third, and with different partners each game too but that must be hard for all of them
Whereas an Ipswich fan at work (who isn’t that keen on us since I said they were running scared of us when they postponed our game due to “international call ups”) messaged me first thing “that sending off…. never a red!” I then showed it to a Donny fan and a Sheff United fan and they both said it wasn’t a red. Certainly divided opinion on here. I’m in the “never a red” camp but it was daft and I doubt we’ll be appealing it.
Shown it to my leeds supporting work mate he also said straight red. It speaks volumes the club aren't appealing it.
I personally think it was more a red than not still, mate. I just cannot believe how stupid he was to go to ground there. It properly baffles me. Especially as like I said the ball was already almost out for a throw in. Proper bizarre judgement from a so called experienced pro.
It’s easy to say that when there’s no way of proving it one way or another. It’s just as valid if I said we’d have won 4-0 with him in the team. It’s not backed up by proof, just a throw away comment. I think it’s pretty clear the defence is better and more balanced with him in. Still bang average like, but better. Maybe we would have conceded 4 or 5. We’ll never know. However, we should have conceded 4 or 5 without him last night except for some excellent goalkeeping.
Have you seen Pines defend ,he is forever waiting for the second ball as he hasn't the confidence to win the first ball. He would be better off up front ,he could do no worse than Cosgrove
I was just pointing out you wanted a big lump and we have one. He’s not very good, big lumps often aren’t.
He's only started 4/5 games for Salford this season & came off bench a few times. Barely played. Not been injured either apparently
