Three windows, but that likely means the sale of maybe Phillips and Connell in that time frame. So already we will be weaker. I think unfortunately we have missed the boat and we do not have the competence/ability off the field or on it to get out of this division.
Spot on, and unfortunately whether we were to give Clarke another season or not, we will most likely sell our so called better talent. So the case for building a squad never exists unless we get promoted which would at least give us a chance of retaining our best players.
https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/30937/rinse-and-repeat-as-clarke-rues-misses Nwakali was leggy. Fair enough but had it been a double substitution with Benson on for Russell, who was worse than Nwakali there would have been fewer boos then signalled someone out who wasn't our worst player.
Clarke has to be given time. If you look at a lot of the successful teams getting promoted over the years, especially in league one. They haven’t done it by sacking the manager after a poor or disappointing first season. Mousinho at Portsmouth had a poor first season by their standards and he got them promoted after a couple of seasons. The same for McKenna at Ipswich. Yes there’s an argument that both those teams spent heavily, especially the latter but success isn’t always bought but it’s down to what you do on the training field. I agree with Clarke about needing a few transfer windows to get his team where it needs to be. Although time will tell how ambitious our board is in terms of giving him the tools necessary to mount a promotion push.
The problem is falling numbers with regards attendances and the feeling of apathy, it doesn't take long for a club to become detached from its support, the signs are there already I was at the game yesterday and it's as flat as a pancake. To give Clarke upto 3 windows isa massive risk, if I saw a glimmer of a plan from Clarke then I would agree, but the lad's approach is scattergun at best, but a good signing or two in what remains of this window may make all the difference. I have my very serious doubts.
Can you name one player that has the ability you talk about? Maybe Phillips very occasionally, but the rest are bog standard league one players.
Really don’t get the need for fans to boo TBH. I get if a player is not trying and has a bad attitude boo him but when they are just not playing well, it’s wrong. IMO.
I've come to accept without significant investment we are top end league 1 club who if we manage to go up will struggle to stay up. It stops the frustration if we do better than that great but I just don't see it happening. Maybe we need a clear out the squad is bloated and unbalanced and the may well include cashing in the assets we have unfortunately.
Yep' we playing bottom of the league at home and the only changes made were at left back and defensive midfield' like he was settling for a goalless draw. Whats point in having youth on the bench ( dyer) if you're not gonna use em' they're either ready or they're not' i like Humphreys but he was awful yesterday and looked totally disinterested' should have been subbed after 60 mins.
The playing squad has got worse year on year.. What do people expect? .. Do you think Val or Duff would get a better tune out of this lot? Duff isn't exactly smashing it at udders with a far better squad and Val can't keep a job.. Clarke can only dance with who he's been told to take to the party.
Kinda agree with this, if his remit is top six and if he doesn't achieve it (let's face it he has a mid table budget and squad) then He'll be gone. Then we'll most likely promote from within.. That's if someone is actually willing to come out of the shadows and directly into the firing line..
I believe they were booing the manager, not the player. Making the wrong substitutions and leaving it too late.
