Wish we were getting a couple of young unproven PL/champ strikers.

Definitely not for me. Hasn't done anything for years. In a poor squad, which is what we have, I think he'd do nothing. I dont think his heart's in it these days. Might be wrong of course but that's my view.
P.s. I just hope that the board apply some commonsense. If they can't get anyone in, especially up front, then I'd rather they signed no-one. I honestly would. If they panic and take a silly punt it will add costs, further bloat the squad and is a silly risk. If we are condemned to L1 again then the summer will be key in any case. Again just my opinion.

Whoever we get in, they will have been on our radar since summer and he turned down multiple offers to come to Oakwell

Guessing a Championship fringe striker or Prem youngster.

He's a country mile better than anyone we've had since.

Agree his all round game tailed off in the last year with us, and I haven't seen him play since so he might have been complete gash every time he's turned out. But I'd still back him to get more goals between now and the end of the season than anyone else we currently have, based purely on the fact that I *know* he can finish.

If he ends up coming tomorrow though, I'd be asking why the hell he wasn't here on 1st Jan.

People aren’t keen on Cauley coming back? He scored a tonne of goals for the club, he hasn’t played this low since he helped fire us out of the division. He would score for fun in this team.

Not sure what sort of striker folk are expecting, but I’d call Woodrow about as good as it gets in our circumstances.

    Opinions game I suppose.

Agree. The issue would be why would he want to come to this god forsaken place except a bit of an emotional tug.

Probably because Luton have just spent £4.5m on two players and wouldn't let him go without cover in place?

I predict we sign Kasey McAteer on loan from Leicester. Mladen used to work there. He's had loans at Forest Green and Wimbledon. Played a few times off the bench in the Premier League this year.

I also think we sign a Scandinavian striker. We were heavily linked with someone called Edvardson a few years back but that fell through late on. So we've obviously contacts in the area.

We'll also probably sign another central midfielder. Cos that's what we always do.

Just at least one proven striker, whether on loan, or permanent, most likely the former. I would go for one, or both of Cauley Woodrow (he is available for loan at Luton), or Macauley Langstaff (also evailable for loan at Millwall). Woodrow would fit the bill for me, as his hold up play is good and he is able to link as a target man and bring midfielders and wide players into the game. Our wide men (Humphrys, Keillor-Dunn) and midfielders (Phillips, Russell and even Connell) are all capable of scoring regularly, so I think that Woodrow would fit the bill and get us scoring again regularly. Langstaff would be more of a fox in the box type, but why not? I would be delighted to have Woodrow back and delirious if we got both Woodrow and Langstaff. It may come down to who we are able to move out and what additional resources the board have available to put in, so that our offers are the most attractive. We are likely to be up against bids from Stockport County and possibly Wrexham, but they have just spent a fortune on Sam Smith and will be playing a sizeable wedge in wages to Jay Rodrigues. We need to better teams like Stockport with our bids. COYR

I don’t think we are signing anyone that is currently on bench at a Premier league side, if we sign from a Premier team then then he will be well down their pecking order and not on verge of playing in first team.

So after a few years of warming the subs bench at Lutaarn, and doing very little on the pitch.
Why do fans think Woodrow would just start regularly scoring again all of a sudden, if he went on loan to a Lg One club ?.
He used to be brilliant at it of course, but not anymore Im afraid. And his last 15 months with us, were awful.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

We all know how good he can be. For the vast majority of his time with us he scored regularly. It didn't end well for him here, but let's be real, who did play well in that last year under Schopp and Poya. The club was a total disaster that season.

He's far better than anything we have now. And at this stage of the window, not sure what else would be out there and available that would be much better. Would have I gone for Cauley at the start of the window? Maybe not but now when options and time is limited, I say get him back.

It shows how bad things are though Nat, and you might be right.
Its a worrying thought, that even now maybe (and despite what I just said about him), Cauley might still be better than our current set of strikers!.

He didn't leave us that long ago. And prior to leaving us he was a very decent championship striker. He's only 30. It's not a major shock to me that he's better than what we have now in L1.
