Barnsley Football Club are delighted to welcome French striker Clément Rodrigues to Oakwell on loan until the end of the season, with a Club option to make the deal permanent in the summer, subject to international clearance and work permit. The 24-year-old arrives at Oakwell from Ligue 2 outfit, SC Bastia and becomes our third addition of the winter window. Hailing from South-West France, the forward has netted on four occasions this campaign for the Corsica-side, three coming in the league and one in the Coupe de France. Rodrigues began his career with local side Angoulême, before enjoying spells with Deux Mers, FC Bassin d'Arcachon and US Concarneau, eventually arriving at SC Bastia in 2024. "I'm really happy to be in England," said Rodrigues. "It's the football capital of the world and I'm really happy to be here. The fans here are amazing and I can't wait to experience it." Mladen Sormaz, Sporting Director at Barnsley FC, added: "We are really pleased to see Clément arrive at the Club to bolster our attacking options. He is a player who possesses good athletic traits, including speed, pressing and movement in the box which we hope will bring another dimension to our forward line." Continue reading...

To ‘bolster’ attacking options suggests we will have a striker dept at least in line with the pre window. So with Marsh and Cosgrove going I would expect at least 1 more striker. Unless by bolster he means to score more goals than what we have. Record doesn’t suggest this is likely to be huge.
It would just be our luck, he bags a first half hat trick on his debut, ruptures his spleen at half time in the changing rooms, and then has to retire on medical grounds....
