We want a striker. One who's scored goals in this league. Maybe played a league above. Maybe somewhere like Prem in Scotland. But we don't want Sam Cosgrove. We want to sell him. But we don't want to sell him to Stockport. But we still want a striker. But not this kid we've signed. That right?
I personally couldnt care less where Cosgrove has gone. Are you honestly happy with this Liam? You're happy both that we have the right manager and he has all the tools he needs at his disposal? Actually, don't answer that as you've clearly just got your deliberately contrarian head on.
Nutkins has already chucked that one at me. Not arsed. I've got genuinely no opinion about a player I've not seen play. I just find the entire pile on and group think on here all a bit tedious and taking an opportunity to point out the flaws in some of the debate.
You dont see his career CV as relevant, no? So if you got a CEO appointed above you at work, it wouldn't bother you if they didn't have any obvious relevant achievements on their CV? You'd just have no opinion, see how they got on in the job? After all, they might be ok, right?
Not sure anyone thinks relying on someone without a work permit and a goal scoring record worse than Watters is the answer. If we have bought him to play off the bench and have a look at him before deciding whether we buy or not then it’s a good move. If we have signed him as our only striker then it’s a very very very bad one.
I think that's the first time the term 'pile on' has been used on here not in the context of defending a racist.
That's my take on things. Because if he's rubbish or his work permit doesn't come off, we'll be in a worse position than we were two hours ago.
Honestly? Not really. We've signed plenty with a good CV who have turned out to be ***** and plenty with a bad one that's done ok. Its almost as though the variables are so broad and many that its hard to guarantee anything in football.
And those responsible will rightly fall on their sword if it fails...... Or maybe not, they'll just pass the book and sack the manager.
I don't believe you. Anyway, you dodged the question so i'll ask it again. You're happy both that we have the right manager and he has all the tools he needs at his disposal?
I think he makes a funny point, not to be taken too seriously. It highlights how self contradictory opinions can be, and how you can’t possibly tick every box. Also, just because someone doesn’t feel a need to vent, it doesn’t mean they’re not disappointed or unhappy. Of course the signing is underwhelming, but it’s just one signing, could be one of a few that come in.
I honestly didn't even see it, I jumped straight to the bit where you had a dig at me. My apologies. I think we've got a half decent manager - proven by his CV - that has some flaws and is working them out in public in a job bigger than he's done before. I think he's doing OK and no I don't think he's got the tools he needs at his disposal. I also don't think you get them that easy or quickly when you've lost hundreds of appearances in the Summer for nothing. In summary, I'm trying to exercise some patience and balance.
Why’s everyone worried about sending him to a play off rival. We aren’t going to finish in them anyway
The logic is simple. Cosgrove proved he wasn’t a player that fits our need and moving on is good for both. We make space for a striker who is targeted to score more goals. So far it doesn’t look like we have done that. Of course time will tell if Cosgrove scores more elsewhere but that ain’t relevant to us. Time will tell whether our attack is stronger after the window than before. Are we underwhelmed so far, it appears so. Is that right?
Problem is that a lot of peoples’ patience has either run out already or is on the verge of doing so.
The calculation is that if the french guy is the only striker we sign this window then the board have the same amount of ambition as a dead slug.
Fair enough. I think we're historically shiit, getting worse year on year, i see absolutely nothing from any individuals on the board or the Exec team to inspire any belief that they can reverse the alarming slide that they've taken us on and i'm pretty despondent about it.
