...until the new players bed in and I have a view as to whether the team has improved or not. Simple as that. I can't make judgments yet, simply because I've not seen the new guys play. The transfer window may look bad at the moment but retrospectively we may look back on it and say things started to improve here... I am not a happy clapper (I'm actually a very sad clapper), I'm not on magic mushrooms and people with white coats are not knocking at my door. If these players turn out to be kak like many on here are suggesting I'll get suitably pissed off then.
I don’t know about that. As someone else pointed out, if the French guy was our target, then why wait until the last minute to sign him? For that alone they warrant examination
If you listen closely, you'll be able to hear the faint flap of white coats....they'll be there for you shortly
Dunno. He was weighing options? Only got chance late on? No idea. I'm not speculating. I'm waiting and watching that's all I'm saying. I'll have a clear view in a few weeks.
In terms of hope I think everyone wants to see how we do and aim for positivity. In expectation people aren’t relying on hope.
I think the biggest gripe, and I agree with not jumping to conclusions regarding player talent, is that we NEEDED a striker who is eligible to play immediately, who has at least some knowledge of the league and its rigours. We've known that for a year near enough. Yet we've waited until teatime on deadline day to get this lad in the Country! I will never be convinced that this lad wasn't at least 6th or 7th on our list of targets.
They might be decent, though we didn't need a keeper (granted Kilip has since gone and this new guy might be better), we didn't really need a wing back - or 2 in the end (though granted Cotter is now injured and Lofthouse has now gone). We DID need strikers - plural. Even more so with Marsh and Cosgrove going and Watters being injured. We're seriously lacking depth and options. I'd be fuming if I was Clarke
Bearing in mind KL has had game time up front , coupled with Dallas leaving. DC was a cheap option and the reason why he was recruited (in my opinion) is that he has worked with low end budgets all his career. I said 10th-12th to other ST holders this season, I’ll downgrade that to possibly as low as 16th. It just feels like a managed decline. If 8000 fans put in between them £2000 a year and get a free ST then jobs a goodun - anyone for crowdfunding!
To say we use Data, what's been brought in, is on par with what we've got rid of. Based on the data for a data based club, then there's no logic behind the last 4 weeks. Of course as say what happens out there might be different but how would the people in charge arrive at the decsion with no improvement on stats.
January window isn’t for players bedding in it’s for getting players ready to go that solve immediate problems in the team. The summer window is for speculating on players who can have a full pre season to acclimatise and plenty of cup matches early in the season to get minutes
I’m not. IMO they need to come out and be brutally honest with us now. Either no one wanted to join us, there is zero money, or it’s gross incompetence. There is simply no other explanation for me, as to why we’ve been left with the strike force we have. For Mladen to come out and say this French lad ‘bolsters our attacking options’ is insulting. We’ve lost Marsh, Cosgrove and Dallas, while Watters and Jalo are injured.
