My point still stands, I’ve always felt Dennis only ever had the best interests of BFC at heart, but TV deals collapsing etc, put us in peril and shouldn’t have done. He eventually stretched us too far.

It looked that way at times on Saturday.
Fingers crossed that Clarke can get something from them, win our next couple of games and we're world beaters again. Our best players really need to step up the intensity.

He did mate but he's got the opportunity to have a run of games now so it's up to him to step up.

I can only disagree. As someone with some insight into company finance I still struggle to understand why the bank did what it did. Particularly when you consider the Co-Op bank’s writing off of Sheffield Wednesday’s far greater debt.

Yeah, let’s hope now that the transfer window is closed, it might settle any players that we’re perhaps looking over their shoulder and not as focused as they could’ve been. Big month coming up should tell us a lot about what will be this season. Here’s hoping

With their lack of support, they are forcing Clarke to make up numbers by promoting from the academy, which we all know has always been the plan of the board.

I suspect Josiah Dyer to now be a squad regular and a few others from our FL trophy campaign to show up again.

Didn't work that way with Cole last season.

Fair enough, it does seem somewhat unfair I agree, but if we weren’t at their ‘mercy’ as much maybe’s the ‘hit’ wouldn’t have been as hard?

Patrick Cryne yes but John Dennis wouldn’t have nowhere near enough financial clout for todays game,

He heads up the recruitment, he's implemented the game and coaching model (technically how play) he deals with first hand data and all negotiations, there were so many transfers that went through this window that involved no transfer fees.
I'm not saying he could suddenly go and spend money off his own accord but he's been hired to run the football side of things reporting into the CEO.
We unfortunately are back round to this thing of non football people stubbornly sticking to a plan they believe is the right way that effects every single thing we do football wise, it's costing us money on nothing more than punts in some cases and we are regressing.
We have a large core of our fan base that understands where we are at financially and isn't expecting the club to be splashing cash we haven't got, we've have also probably got a resounding majority of our fan base who haven't a clue what we are trying to be or what we are trying to achieve.

Cole is/was a ‘confidence’ player when he ‘dried up’ it affected his game. Was this down to the ‘transfer window’ I don’t think it was, and even if it was it doesn’t follow that others would be similarly affected. If they truly wanted to go a are under contract then it’s in their best interest to play out of their skin for the rest of the season and hope for a Summer move

The window has certainly increased my sympathy towards DC's role. I have question marks about him as a head coach, but the over-arching attribute required for the role now looks to be reacting positively to being undermined through squad recruitment, and he's more than capable in that regard.

Virtually every business I have been involved with would have been in major difficulty if its overdraft facility had been suddenly withdrawn. It’s the nature of cash flows, and few businesses carry sufficient cash reserves to withstand such a situation.

Yes, lack ofmoney was the cause of that and lack of money is the cause of our current situation. I dont blame individuals, the powers that be are to blame. The players are paid far too much. Until this is sorted we will always have this problem. Some fans want us to keep up with Jones's re player wages whereas I want us remain solvent. We as fans are not aware of the budgetry contraints the recruitment team are under so its difficult to apportion blame re lack of activity. Do I like it, no I dont. I would like to have my cake and eat it, but!

Yes, I thought after our summer business we would be around the 7-12th and had us to finish 9th, I'm sticking to that, it's a strong league this year with Birmingham, Wrexham Wycome and Huddersfield spending what we can't.
Though the soundbites from the club said different, with talk of another promotion tilt, I am starting to wonder if really the plan was different.
The only logic I can try and apply over our recruitment is one of 3 scenarios.
We are indeed using this season as transistional period, allowing the clearing out deadwood from a bloated squad, DC has been given assurances that as long as we aren't in a relegation battle his position would be safe.
The league may then balance out a bit more next season giving us a better shot and we have a busy summer adding to the core with some serious business.
Option 2 is they really haven't got a clue or any plan and are alarmingly like headless chickens pouring millions down the drain and alienating an entire fanbase, happy to keep muddling through on the hope something happens.
The final option is that they've decided to slowly but surely pull back looking for an exit route, although another recent cash injection would suggest not.

Can only hope its the first option that there is a bigger plan, they know we are safe this year, the players they really want are available in the summer and it's just short term stop gaps at the moment until EOS.
Darrell Clarke's body language and general outlook might give us some clues, sacking him I think would tell us we are in the middle category of haven't got a clue.
If it is a season of transition then I think personally they need to be honest with the fanbase and front it up and communicate thus message, otherwise they'll be in for an almighty shock around renewals.
