Right after all the doom mongers have finished, let me offer a positive view on this window!

It's the thought that counts.

 

I'll have a go at being glass half full, though I really am pushing it here...

The players that have gone - Cosgrove, Lofthouse, Killip, Dallas and Marsh - would all have been on my list of "fat" to trim from the squad. I'd have liked a few more to go too, but you can't move players on if no-one wants them (Benson) or they're injured (Cotter).

Some of the players that have arrived are in the positions I'd have identified as needing strengthening (GK, LWB, CF). If the players that have arrived are better than the players that left, then we ought to do better in the remainder of the season.

The reason everyone is utterly underwhelmed (understatement!) is that there's virtually nothing to suggest that they will be better, and that the most obvious flaw in our team hasn't been addressed at all - especially with 2 of our first team strikers currently injured. I'm half wondering whether they have a free agent lined to come in after the window has closed, because there's absolutely no excuse for only bringing in one forward.

So yes, completely dejected but if you're looking for a sliver of hope, if yer man Rodrigues comes in and smashes it and the wing backs and GK turn out to be upgrades, it might not look so bad in retrospect.
