"Listen, your never totally happy with your squad but listen we'll go with what we've got.The hard work starts here with integration of the new players on the training pitch"."Listen I'll speak to you again after the drubbing at Stockport"
It was unlikely that he's ever going to come out and openly criticise the state of the squad post-transfer window, but him saying that he has a Zoom call scheduled with a Free Agent this afternoon is a 'diplomatic' way of doing exactly that.

I am not so negative as some. The above is probably exactly what he will say. It is what a diplomatic manager would say. If you look at other clubs across all four divisions, many have reported 'missing out' on key targets in this window. It is difficult to say why this one has been so hard, but only a very few clubs have been able significantly to strengthen and they are mainly ones with plenty in the bank to do so. Either the sort of players we were after weren't available, or, given the sluggish trading, they may have had multiple offers, some of which would have been at a higher level. Clarke wanted to thin down the squad and that has happened. The players who have moved out, with the possible exception of Killip, have been those we might have thought of as the 'fringe players' who needed to move on. At least Clarke knows what he has at his disposal now. I think Clarke is a straight, honest and absolutely passionate guy, just right for our team and our town. He has got a reasonable tune out of the squad so far and I really think that his passion and commitment deserve the reward of our getting into the playoffs again. The squad is certainly no worse than most in this division and a lot better than the average. Keep the faith. We, the supporters, need to be the new signing for the rest of the season. COYR
Clarke says he recognises the fantastic effort put in by the recruitment team during the transfer window, haha I bet he does!
I prefer the repeat of the line "I'm looking forward to seeing him play" when referring to Rodrigues. Or to put it another way, I've no idea who this guy is and I've never even seen him before.
He's quoted in the Chron as saying "I don't know an awful lot about Clemant" which chimes with your thoughts.
