Noticed he wasn’t there at the last game. He always used to stand up on the touchline when we were defending corners so kind of assumed that was in his area but looks like Hourihane has taken that on given Saturday.
Yeah left same time as Evatt. Another poster on here said MG was present on Saturday against Burton in his role.
The club had an arsenal fitness coach before Xmas trying to get the players fitter...he did say some of the players attitudes were poor...the players weren't happy he collected their mobiles in as they were spinning whilst on their phones.. Devaney brought the guy in.
Talking about making a drama of nothing. "Boss can I leave I want to be nearer home" "No problem give us a week or so to get a replacement in." A couple of weeks later "right you can go now we've got Matt Gilks coming in" "Cheers boss "
The one thing I did notice with Bittner, is that he did a lot of analysis work with the iPad during games and half time. And linked up with Hourihane in this work.
His departure is in The Yorkshire Post and I'm sure it'll be in the Chronicle tomorrow. Bitter requested to move to Bristol to be nearer his family. The club agreed and thanked him for his service.
https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2025/february/06/matt-gilks-announced-as-goalkeeper-coach/ Finally we announce it. To be nearer home was always going to be the reason given. Many people work away from home or the area they know best.
Allus amazes me things like this B. It doesn't even register on the Richter scale. Re when to announce such matters. Certainly not if only a day or two. And even then only as a matter of interest. These specialist coaches move around all the time.
So you whinge that there is no announcement, and then when there is an announcement, you decide not to believe it. It's really easier to let a lot of this **** just wash over you and just worry about the big things.
I guess the best way to judge a goalkeeping coach is by looking at the keeper he's been coaching. Before this season, I thought Killip was rubbish. Just rubbish. To my surprise, he played very well in quite a few games this season. So well done to both Bittner and Killip for working together to improve the goalkeeper position. Best of luck to both.
