These trusts and wotnot only want to hobknob with the powers that be and feel important. The board does what it wants anyway. No more than chocolate fireguards seeking their moment of fame and where it might get them. Waste of snap and bacca.
Not sure what they can do? Rodrigues might score 5 in the first half against Stockport from Lembikisa through balls.
You ever been involved? Been to a meeting? Given up your time to it? Put forward a suggestion to make it better?
Not asked them to do anything. But you would think they would have their concerns as to what a bad January window it's been in terms of incoming signings. Is the club skint or are the recruitment team and Sormaz just deluded and think the current squad is fine?
I know most of those who’ve been involved over the years and completely disagree. Most used to post on here. And one in particular runs the site you’re posting on right now. So a bit disrespectful.
You know what. I agree. I'm pretty sure that between the trust, fab group and other nominated fans there are one or two who only want to hobnob and feel important. But that's one or two compared to god knows how many who just want to make things better. They give up their time and put themselves up for abuse and stick from other fans and they do it because they love the club and want things to be a little better than they are. I couldn't and wouldn't do it and I suspect you wouldn't either (or you would be doing) so I think it's harsh to just slag them all off and say they just want to feel important. Do I think that the board just does what it wants anyway? Yes on a lot of things I do but that is a reason to criticise the board (and all previous boards too) not to criticise the fans trying to improve stuff for me and you
I think you have to let the dust settle on the transfer window before asking questions: I grant you it doesn’t look great but it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve all been wrong.
Very odd take. They put their time and effort in for free, and care about the Club as much as anyone you’ll ever meet.
I think you’ll always get fans that like to squeeze bit closer to the club than others. A few come to my mind immediately, although no one that posts on here, and as far as I know they’re not members of the supporters trust either.
I agree. Seems to be a Barnsley thing to knock people who are successful or who put themselves out to try to improve things. See also Michael Parkinson, Dickie Bird. The trust members I know are people who genuinely care about the club, and most of them have supported from afar, travelling huge distances just to get to home games. But let’s slag them off because they’re supposedly in a “clique”. Obviously a “clique” that anyone can join but we’ll not let facts get in the way of a jealousy-inspired conspiracy theory. Bonkers.
I think it’s a ‘thing’ to knock everything, and it’s not exclusive to our fans, although we boast some competition level complainers. Just reading some of the FB comments following Sormas’ interview is cringeworthy. It’s just a pile on.
Whilst I'd call Ben, Hicksy and Gally friends, they never got anything free from the club while I was there. They regularly contacted myself and other colleagues over the years to get answers on behalf of the fans. They successfully launched two iterations of Redfearn's Bar raising stupid money for charitable purposes, giving up their own free time to do so. They entertained fans during lockdown with the legend interviews on YouTube. Did zoom interviews (very long ones) with CEOs like Dane and Khaled, asking the most pertinent, unscripted questions. Those three, plus Alan, Ray and countless others over the years have done the best they can to help fellow fans. As for Parky and Dickie, they both helped put the town on the map, for positive reasons. We need more of that.
Those interviews they did were fantastic. Loved the one with Andy Ritchie and Rick Holden. I have never had anything to do with the trust but from an outside perspective they seem to do a good job and I’m not really sure what people expect them to do in this situation. Write an open letter to the club? Maybe, but I don’t see what good that will do. I feel the same about the FAB/G whatever it’s called now. It’s not in their remit to discuss transfers and transfer business as far as I understand so I don’t think they can do anything either.
