...where does the blame lay for this season's malaise and underwhelming football? Is it Board 80%, manager 10% and players 10% or something else? I know its more complex and there are long-term issues as well as short-term ones but some people seem to be slagging the board off completely whilst exonerating Clarke and some people put more emphasis on the players not doing basics..etc etc. Is it just a toxic combination of poor board, poor coach and inadequate players? Apart from being very critical of the board myself I'm not actually sure what I think anymore. I would probably say the board are 80% to blame for the entire fiasco as they also pick the manager and have allowed the club to decline but in the short -term is Clarke making things worse or is he actually doing well with the calibre of player at his disposal? I just dont know anymore. Its so deflating I don't know what to think. P.s. I have recently stated that the board give Clarke the summer window and completely back him but perhaps I'm wrong. Again, I dont know.
I think DC is getting off lightly there. Even allowing for the shitty hand he's been dealt by the sinister mandarins in the boardroom, he's taken a half-decent team backwards pretty quickly.
Such as today, playing a FB upfront is inexcusable and very unprofessional. I get the formation being wrong and costing us, but to do that was childish . In the post game interview we have now gone from being promotion contenders to in a period of transition - basically to cover up his shortcomings as a coach. He still doesnt know his best 11 and has been here 9/10 months. He's used to working with low end teams and after that stunt with Farrugia has lost any credibility that I had for him - Radio Sheffield didn't even ask the question. The fact is we should be performing better than we are - he should've put Dyer on for Rodrigues as surely this is about unearthing a gem and not points scoring with the board - it's hardly like he's set the place alight with what he had at his disposal , so why should you trust him with a million or 2 of your money? Collins deserved to get the backing as he was at least doing the business - whether folk like his style or not is another matter. Verdict - he's out of his depth from what I'm seeing - and that takes some going managing us when we have relatively low expectations as a fan base
I think even I could get these boys fired up more than Clarke . We look gutless of late . I blame the head coach .
40% Flatman & Mladan 20% DC and assorted coaches 20% Board (Neerav spineless and invisible. Should be seeing returns on his generous continued investment) 20% Players
33.33/33.33/33.33 All to blame. 1) Squad is lacking quality in some areas. 2) However, the squad we do have has proven it’s actually decent anyway and can play good stuff and can get good results. 3) Manager can’t get them fired up or gets tactics wrong. Let’s be clear here - we don’t have a bad squad - and performances have shown we can get good results. So why not today?
Hardly going to want to run blood to water for a.head coach who has thrown them under the bus all season and took no responsibility for himself
Dont care who the board or manager is. Professional league footballers should be able to make simple passes and do the basics correctly.
Well I put a lot of the blame on Clarke, yes he has been shafted by the board and everyone realised what Hourihane came back for , but it doesn't take it away that Clarke is out of his depth and to say he is supposed to be a good man manager, I totally disagree , he has shown In last couple of weeks he has picked young Dyer on bench, agreed he is unproven but the other strikers are firing blanks so why keep him warming the bench, it must be demoralising for a young lad
