Never in a million years. There player runs in Earl. Just seen the highlights. When would we ever get a pen like that!
Mistimed tackle I'd say. But I agree with the OP, we very rarely get penalties like that, we didn't even get that one at Old Trafford when Liddle had his legs amputated.
Against Wycombe, Roberts got the ball and was sent off. A great tackle the likes of which used to be applauded. It was clean but it was hard and it sends the message that if you're going to try to get past us, you're going to get clattered. It wasn't from behind, it was from the side, and their player faked injury. Wasn't even a foul. Pines then stuck his toe in and nicked the ball in the penalty area. In doing so he also nudged their player, but he's got to try to do something in that position and he got the ball. Seen them given, but not a penalty for me. At Stockport Earl simply trips their player. He doesn't get anywhere near the ball, he sticks his foot in and trips him up. The reverse angle from behind the goal shows this clearly. https://www.skysports.com/football/video/26947/13305305/stockport-2-1-barnsley-league-one-highlights I don't know how we can have any complaints. The silly clumsy toohat.
It's a pen earl too slow, slow to see them do the 1-2 then slow to react when he does he trips the man.
Just wish we got some of these decisions that seem to get so easily given against us but never for us.
In what universe was the Roberts tackle a good one? I would argue it was a yellow instead of a red as I don't think it was dangerous but he didn't get the ball and it was from behind, not to mention the Wycombe player was going nowhere so it was pure stupidity. I struggle to take the rest of your post seriously after that first observation. The fact Marc apologised and the club didn't appeal speaks volumes.
