Absolutely Top post. This is why I gave up my season ticket two and a half years ago. There are no more bums on seats signings just fingers crossed.
I agree with some of this but not all of it. We've now gone to sign players with no resale value, we signed 2 players at 34 years old in the summer. Plus players like Cosgrove and Humphrys late 20s the recruitment team can't of thought we will sign these maybe there late developers and we will sell them for millions. But under the crynes we signed players u25 with there best years still to come. People moaned about signing kids and not enough experience. Now we have too much experience and not enough players who will get any better.
Mladens video on the transfer window was lamentable and did absolutely nothing to convince the fans the club had done it best to sign the players the club needed to push on for a top six place.
The two 34 year olds in the summer were to try and quieten the growing discontent with the fan base ironically the Hourihane one ended up back firing due to how it was portrayed by the club at the time and how it panned out. Humpries like the French kid was a panic buy at the end of a poor recruitment window I'd argue that Cosgrove was signed on the back of Plymouths promotion and his part in it in the hope his good form would continue and either fire us to promotion or prompt someone to pay us money for him that ended well for the recruitment team. The whole **** show that is Barnsley FC at the moment needs a complete reset the board if they are to remain need to employ competent football people to run the club not the clowns they currently employ and get an adviser on to the board who can spot the ******** being given to the board and call it out.
Cosgrove did okay at Plymouth and thats it. Roberts was signed to play although he hadn't played much in the 2 seasons prior and is 35 this year so not the player we had 10 years ago. Players get to there peak between 25 to 30 so for us to sign players.late 20s in the hope of making money is niave at best. Experience is a massive buzz word on this forum or was until we had loads of it and were still *****.
I think it was a panic signing, the transfer window was another car crash and they knew Hourihane wasn't going to be playing that much.
Hourihane and Roberts were probably both panic signings. The board have form for knee jerk reactions. "Oh dear, we've had a bad run and we're only 6th. Let's sack Collins" "Oh dear, the fans aren't happy. We've only sold X number of season tickets. Let's sign Conor"
