Who are they and why is it such a secret? Genuinely interested as to why nobody knows, what difference would it make either way that its kept under wraps. Are they employed by the Club or do we outsource and they also recruit elsewhere aswell?
The ones that have left were very good and are at bigger clubs than us now, including one who’s at Villa. The issue is, their replacements are obviously ****. Ismael took one of the main ones with him to West Brom.

Not trying to be ar*y but genuinely interested as to why its a secret and if employed not on the staff lists on official site, I'm not doubting you BTW mate I'm just curious to understand
You’re right about one of the recruitment analysts going to Villa. It was 18/19 though. Val didn’t take one to WBA either. He took a performance analyst with him. Two actually. I know some of the current recruitment analyst setup very well having worked with them and they’re very intelligent people whose skills match the roles they applied for. They analyse and use data. They compile reports, present their findings. Within whatever parameters set by the club (assuming that’s Mladen’s job) it’s their job to analyse the talent within that pool and the data ‘should’ give you ‘some’ knowledge that assists in your recruitment. I often saw the ‘spreadsheet’ (it’s not a spreadsheet) and believe me, if we were able to just land anyone we want, we’d be in the top flight in no time. But it’s not that simple. There are obvious limits and restrictions amongst all kinds of variables. How data is interpreted, which players - who are flagged - are viable, that’s another story too. Then there’s the financials. The negotiations. The player’s personality. And after all of that, will the coaches get the performances out of them? Will they settle? It’s the people on the big bucks who work with said data, informing their decisions and so on. It’s why they’re on the big bucks after all.
It’s not worked with this lot though or is it purely down to the manager and coaches can’t manage or coach?
Do they then go and watch a player real time? Or is it viewing video montages of their performances? Or is it purely data driven?
They advertised a job as recruitment analyst last November, it was only 26k there's 2 young lads aswell been there a while, perhaps its Mladen on the big bucks cos these lads look like there on peanuts. Great insight BTW cheers
They do watch a lot of football, yeah. And the club has scouts up and down the country. Or they did at least when I was there. It’s obviously not purely data driven (the club’s recruitment) otherwise they wouldn’t have signed Roberts, just as one example. Again, it’s just one tool at the club’s disposal. Anyway, I don’t know why I’m trying to explain it when in another thread I’m saying I disagree with the strategy. I don’t disagree with data though. And if we were running a strategy more in keeping with what I’ve suggested in that other thread, we’d have still been able to sign such as Connell, Phillips, Kitching, Pinnock etc. We’d just have to sell them earlier.
Do you think there is any excuse for leaving everything to the 11th hour? Because from the outside looking in it looks like every season we end up with some last minute panic buy. I understand that we are sometimes in the hands if other clubs not wanting to replace players until they have theirs in, but when you look at who we actually get in (Rodrigues for example), surely he would have come earlier in the window. Strikes me that we get knocked back over and over or simply leave it too late and then end up with players no one was looking at. Either way it is very unimpressive. Something needs to change.
I think history suggests the earlier we sign players in any window, the better they turn out to be. And I don’t disagree with you (or others) on lots of issues that are being raised. I just know it’s asinine to simply blame the guys who analyse the data. As with any business, any machine, there’s lots of moving parts. It’s silly to say they’re rubbish because we signed Rodrigues when we also signed Phillips using the same data/staff. I’m not excusing anyone or any thing. Just trying to offer a little bit of insight. Which can be easily ignored too!

I mean given the abuse everyone that is a known name involved in the club gets, i’m not surprised they’re not made public. I also don’t see why they should be, in the same way the club site doesn’t list everyone working in the box office. They’re just employees. They’re not secret though, they’re just not made public by the club. There’s a difference.
