They exist to make money for shareholders. That is their only reason for existance.

No I don’t think the state of the country is looking good.

But I also don’t think the current government have made any of it any worse.

The economy, even if a small amount, has grown. Inflation is down. Interest rates are down.

NHS waiting lists are getting smaller.

Even the far right brigade should be happy as this government have repatriated a higher rate of immigrants in the short time they’ve been in as well.

They have actually achieved some applaudable things in under a year.

But the agenda of the media dictates that all we hear about is taking heating allowance off pensioners, Rachel Reeves having a junior team member get the month she left the Bank of England wrong on LinkedIn, and some MPs with a ropey WhatsApp thread.

    And Angela Rayner’s dress sense.

Yes of course. To the detriment of everything else if necessary. So no one should complain about closing stores, branches or job losses.

I wonder what attracted Georgia Toffolo to her billionaire fiancee.

Sainsbury's shut the cafes as part of a cost saving and change of strategy announced over a year ago under the previous government.

Asda are making savings since a slump in growth that started in 2023 and got even worse in the first quarter of 2024 all under the previous government.

Tesco is simply continuing on its strategy that was initially started in 2019 under the previous government.

Banks and building societies have been closing for years with approximately 8000 branch closures under the past government leaving less than 7000 in existence now.

The previous government saw record pub closures in 2023 with 2.1 a day shutting their doors. Again under the previous government those figures shot up even worse in the first quarter of 2024 with a 50% increase in closures.

So I don't think it's all the fault of the "party for the working people" really when all of these things were caused by the previous government

There a few links to back up what I'm on about. I mean if we're just making things up I think leaving the e.u contributed to Adam Phillips getting sent off at Wembley.

I wasn't making anything up, I checked each one before I posted. The reality is that the budget didn't help businesses but that the root causes of the problems started during the previous government and that's when the businesses started these restructuring.

I wouldn’t bother. No evidence, sense or reason will allow light to dawn on marble head.

OK mate you think what you want. So your more or less admitting the budget was poor and cost ten of thousands of jobs for working people.

No I'm pretty sure that I said the plans were in place for those businesses before labour were in power.

However I've already said in the past that raising NMW etc is just a sticking plaster over the real problem which is uncontrolled price rises and that a better long term strategy is to enforce caps on certain things and nationalise key unavoidable costs to the public. I'd have one public owned gas company, electric, supermarket etc.

Problem is that labour inherited an absolute **** show and needed to raise money pretty much instantly and that means making unpopular decisions. And yes the company I work for was affected too
