What do you mean by ‘manage’ mate? You’ve just picked two small clubs that are doing ok at the moment. I’d say the question is more, how can Wycombe afford to turn down big money bids for their players on tiny gates, and similarly, how can Oxford afford to pay Helik more than Huddersfield could? Going back further, how did Bournemouth, Wigan, Reading & Brentford climb up the leagues. It wasn’t ambition alone. They bought success. What have Huddersfield got to show for their ambition to get to the prem? similarly Luton, who look to be coming back to league one. Where was Oxford & Luton’s ambition when they were slipping down and out of the league. How did ambitious willy waving kings of league one, Birmingham, end up here having to spend a fortune trying to get back up. Other clubs fleeting success and failure is their own business. We’re not them, and our own fans shouldn’t use them as a stick to beat our own club with. It’s far too simplistic.
There's been calls for the last 3 owners to resign. Cryne snr, Lee and conway, now nareev. I agreed with one out of 3.
Agree completely. I think in addition they have been haunted and hindered by some bad decisions from the Lee / Conway days and it's not a simple fix. It's easy for folk to chant rubbish when it's not their own money. I mentioned Exeter City a few weeks ago, they are fan owned competing a the same level of the football pyramid and according to their last set of accounts made a small profit. What I couldn't work out apart from our wage bill, how their operating costs we so much lower than Barnsley. What are they doing different and they haven't had the luxury of some of the player sales that we have.
The most negative I’ve ever seen it. The ponte end on Saturday couldn’t even get up for a Yorkshire derby which had implications of top 6 probability. Absolutely envy most teams when I go away, as their home support is miles better than ours.
They do. I do often get the frustration but I've never understood the reason "why" that's wy I asked you mate. I've had a dig of my own research. Oxford, Bournemouth (in league 1) all spent less than us. They just dropped on the correct recruitment.
Spent less on what? Worth mentioning that Billionaire Max Demin took over in 2011 and they were in the Prem by 2015.
Not sure how reliable ‘Capology’ is, but they had Oxford as 4th biggest payroll last season. https://www.capology.com/uk/league-one/payrolls/2023-2024/
Who’s been running the club while we’ve racked up 30 first team registered players? Seems like if the club is losing money, then they need to start there. Also was it Cosgrove on 4K a week???? Jesus that’s some bad signings that will kill the club.
As a little comparison. Oxford (year to 2023), overall loss of £6.2m, salaries £9.2m (accounts have minimal disclosure) Wycombe (year to 2023) overall loss £3m, no salary information Barnsley (year to 2023) overall loss £4m, salaries £9.3m. It’s not just our club that is financially unhinged.
