What is your basis for saying that? He has done his best to repel an aggressive invader who has variously: targeted civilians, including with banned cluster munitions. kidnapped children ( for which Putin has been indicted as a war criminal), co-opted the help of the world's most despotic regime (north Korea) with whom the USA are technically still at war in fighting a war on European soil, imprisoned and/or poisoned anybody who dares disagree with him. The orange man child has now criticised zelensky for not having an election in the middle of a war (an obvious impossibilty) and spouts the Kremlin rhetoric for reasons that can't be justified. If Putin wins, where does he stop? The same logic that led to Ukraine will also lead to the Baltic states, Poland and Finland, all of whom have land he regards as russian. Trump and his idiotic mates are determined to upset a world order that has avoided a major war since 1945, don't listen to them. Trump is motivated by money and power and nothing else....except perhaps keeping the water sports tapes secret.

He lied about a missile strike earlier on in the conflict to try and elicit a response from the west that might have brought about World War 3. That did it for me. I don't wish to elaborate further. I'll agree to disagree.

Apparently Selensky started the war by allowing his country to be invaded. Such is Trumpian logic.

I think you will be talking about the missile that strayed into Poland and killed two farmers. The polish stated the debris indicated it was a russian made missile. Zelensky stated the Ukrainians did not fire a missile into Poland, therefore it must be the russians. The Ukrainians were denied access to the site. The western powers all said they would not do anything until they had further evidence. What actually happened was a Ukrainian russian made anti aircraft missile missed a russian missile and it's self destructive system failed. However the russian missile it failed to shoot down was targeted 35 km from the polish border, hundreds of miles away from any fighting aimed at a civilian target. Mishaps like that are a foreseeable consequence of an aggressive war especially given the inaccuracies of russian technology. The closest to real escalation we got was a russian fighter firing a missile at an RAF joint rivet aircraft in international airspace over the black sea. The missile failed, probably jammed by the RAF plane.

Deeply concerning how the negotiating only seems to be how much they can screw over a brave independent nation.

Not just excluding Ukraine and Europe from talks, but the undercurrent, again, of attacking democracy and questioning Zekenskyys authority to govern, and the Russian push to row back NATO borders to pre 2008 levels.

You can see what's going to happen now. Ukraine governed by a Kremlin stooge. The Baltic nations and parts of Eastern Europe no longer under US military protection.

I can actually envisage a full scale war in Europe in my lifetime.

Given how corrupt Ukraine is and has been over the years, one of if not the most egregious for it, I can understand skepticism from all parties. However, at some point, this clown show needs everyone involved. The US can't condemn Europe constantly and then not allow them a seat at the table - especially the very country which is being illegally invaded. I dont care about the politicians and generals, most of whom will be profiting greatly from this tragedy, but the amount of death to the working people of Ukraine has to stop and the way its currently going, it just looks like more countries will get dragged into it. Feels eerily similar to these "cease-fires" in the middle east. It concerns me that US mega companies had contracts to rebuild Ukraine months and months ago, it concerns me that despite promises made, it feels we are going backwards. It certainly concerns me how much more death will happen to like the pockets of scumbags.

Touché, though in Ukrainian his name begins 3e followed by a symbol which we don't have in English, so there is no precise English spelling, only an approximation. I have seen his name written with an S in German, which would produce the Z sound which we have in English.

You're right about corruption. It does go on in many countries, and as part of the EU accession, Ukraine are making strides, though obviously on a war footing, thats not easy. Prior to the war, the West of Ukraine was becoming a big tech hub and there was significant investment from international firms. There are still 'unknown' buildings which aren't marked on maps and have shady people with blacked out windows and black cars outside them, and others patrolled by 'private security.' The locals believed they were Russian state controlled but didn't know what went on inside. When i visited Baltic nations, similar stories were mentioned.

Ukraine has an abundance of resource and land, and as ever, that's dictating East and Western interest.

I can't remember the company now, but I was working with a support team for a software product that were based in Ukraine. We were in the middle of planning a migration for our client when the invasion happened and they all went offline and we were unable to contact them again.

If Trump's statements, or statement's of idiots like Hegseth are actually followed through, you're right.
Poland are the only populous continental nation who have, since 2014 been rearming. As it currently stands they are the only significant military force left to plug the gap.

Trumps base will lap it up as usual. I can't see the average deliverance hillbilly in mid-sticks USA having much interest or knowledge of European politics. If Trump does a good impression of doing stuff and gets himself seen at Daytona whilst telling everyone how great he is he'll still get support. A bit like the brexiteers here who wont concede brexit was a complete load of carp. Head in the sand stuff.
