Josh earl. Same lad who we've kept hardly any clean sheets since he joined us. Can't blame him alone but by god he's contributed to some awful defensive performances.
Kinda my point. A four year deal to a player in form or with pedigree is a brilliant move. A four year deal to someone as **** as all our other **** defenders is mental especially when he had a poor recent record when we signed him.
Fleetwood fans were sad to see him go. Had experience in the championship and league one which many on here always love... real buzz word experience on here.
Bit of a difference between our present squad and the one declared for this match 8+ years ago. Something has gone terribly wrong.
Some similarities though with current crop. There's also some absolute dross in that side like there is now. Not much has changed
I would reckon that there are at least 10 players in that squad, and probably more than a dozen, better than any one player we currently have. Although one or two have gone on to develop further.
Its worrying times ahead isn't it, with a replacement for Clarke also probably happening soon. There's going to be another huge squad rebuild needed, with all those possible released players. And we'll be starting from scratch yet again, which is all too familiar for us these days. And what sort of 'quality' players will be brought in to replace them.
Oh of course. Was just pointing out there is also some absolute garbage there as we have now. A lot of people seem to think that this side is utter crap and no one is good. I think the majority of this squad is fine, just like the majority of the squad you showed. But it also has some crap too. Issue is the good ones just aren't on the same level as the good ones back then
Jack Cowgill. I remember us having high hopes for him. If I remember correctly, he had some injury issues which stopped him playing after us. Not sure if he's at a club now but I know he wasn't for a couple of years.
Elliott Lee, wasn't he another striker loaned or sold pretty quickly. After only getting about 5-6 minutes of match time!. And I've already asked that about Stefan Payne. And didn't Ryan Williams get a better chance at our next opponents, Rotherham.
Spot on mate, but we need to have a ground zero at the club and start from scratch, currently we get a player in only to find it dunt work so panic and get another player while paying 1st player not to play...The only way this will work is if Clarke goes get a replacement (proper clubs would already be looking) early in closed season. release everyone who's out of contract and those who aren't good enough with a year left sell. Don't renew McArthy or Benson as 6 games in they'll both be out for the season. use saved wage money to buy or season loan players with proven records. But get a proper gaffer 1st then involve him at the top table ( he could sit in Sormez place once we've sacked him and his crew ) Ye it's starting again but if we dont do it now we'll be doing it in L2. I'm afraid the cull would include Connor as there would be no Management vacancy temporary or otherwise...
Yeah I can understand the idea behind that, and maybe it does need to be done sooner then, rather than later!. I do feel sorry for Benson, but we're not a charity and we can't afford to keep on doing this. I wish they would stop messing about with a coach as well. Let's hire a proper manager again, who does indeed get included in the transfers in/out, and other things. I don't think we're Lg Two material just yet, but this run of results, in Lg One, is disgraceful.
According to YT's list there's 10 out of contract in a 30 man squad and 9 got till 2026. Sadly there's nobody on the 2025 list that would merit a protest if we released them and if we are to have a new Manager don't recruit until he starts. Some on the 2026 list could be sold, I would offer Watters and Dallas. If successful that would clear 12 wages for an incoming Manager to have a budget to play with. There would be 18 players left and as the average L1 squad is 22 to 24 players 4 or 5 could be brought in of the Managers choice. All loans to be full season so we're not bricking it as fans that a decent find is going in January. Would be bringing Shepard back so looking at a another CB, DM and one if not two up front...
that is so depressing reading that list compared to this one, can't see any of this squad making it to the prem
