Today I had 5 tickets in the executive box at Rotherham that were gifted to me by a Rotherham fan that has his own box at the ground. Myself and 4 family members turned up at the Rotherham reception to pick up our tickets only to be told that the tickets had been taken by someone else and only 2 tickets remained. My mate that had sorted the tickets out months ago had forgotten that he had given me 5 tickets and had given some to other friends of his. The Rotherham staff tried to help me and get me in a box but there wasn't any room and they couldn't get us into any other area of the ground. It looked like we were stranded, I'd dragged my family through to Rotherham promising them a day in the executive box, free food and a few beers. Now we were stuck, we would have to get a lift home or get a train etc or watch the match in the boozer. As we were stood trying to work out our next move in the reception, Jean and James Cryne walked past. I stopped Jean and asked if she could help us, we were stuck, we go home n away each week and we were now ticketless. I apologised several times for asking, I'm old school and proud I never ask for favours until today. Jean and James said they would try to help me and took my number. 5 minutes later a Rotherham official came down and asked for me by name and asked if we would accept 5 tickets in the away end courtesy of Jean and James. I was soo thankful to them and to Rotherham for bailing me out. Jean and James didn't have to listen or help but they did. I know that we are critical of the ownership currently but today went a long way in restoring my faith in the board and in humanity itself. @YT if you have anyway of contacting them can you please pass on my sincere thanks and appreciation. Its saved my embarrassment and helped me spend precious time with my family watching the reds. Dave
Excellent news in the end and so glad to hear some about Barnsley fc on here. Nice bonus for you and your family - a win lol.
I’ve done 13 aways this season, but couldn’t get one for today because it was ‘sold out’. Couldn’t believe how many empties there were in the corner.
Its nice to see something positive. Also, its worth noting that nice gestures like this are more common with clubs further down the pecking order. Can't wait till we're non-league - the fan experience will be Brill!!
Strange tickets went on sale when we were on a good run. Then recently I saw a few going for sale online and plenty swapping hands and people wanting them so still demand. In the ground seemed to be a few missing odd seats. The corner looked like more tickets could have been sold near the netting which separates the home and away ends.
It was empty in that corner, with the exception of just a couple of fans. Maybe club put summat out and I missed it?
Ye I was quite close to there abit more central. But yes noticed that can't have sold tickets for there. Unless it was a big group of 100 or so and they all didn't turn up.
