20th January my dad, Stu, a season ticket holder of 25 years had a heart attack at 65 and passed away. No medical history, fit and healthy, no warning, nothing. Just gone.
I managed to get to the Hudds game but barely got through it, the feeling was so raw.
I didn't go today, I didn't even watch. Just got a BBC notification that we'd won. Felt funny not texting him about the result, moaning we didn't get another obvious pen, trying to work out which away game we might 'get permission' to go to.
Not sure if I'll get back to Oakwell. I live out in Hull, and only went in the end to spend time with him. But I couldn't help pump a fist and say 'you reds' today.
    That one's for you dad.

I live in Hull (well Hessle). Ever fancy a pint watching the Reds at Oakwell or locally when they’re on tele, let me know! Up the East Yorkshire Reds.

That's harsh mate, so sorry for your loss. Hopefully the Reds will at some point be worth going to watch as more than a family social. Because that's the only reason why I feel like I'm bothering at the moment.

Sorry for your loss, felt the same way after losing my old man many years ago, it took time, eventually the feeling came back and in a funny way being inside oakwell made me feel close to dad.
They say time is a healer, you never really heal but time definitely helps.

This is a good place, despite our differences, that's just opinions, we're all reds and stick together.
    Again sorry for your loss.

I always go and touch my dad's brick on the wall of the Ponty and remember the good and bad times we had at Oakwell over the years.

Get a brick for your dad so he'll always be there.

My daughter bought me one for my 50th. Think I’d struggled to find it now though!

It sometimes takes me a while but I always find it. If you see an old bloke staring blankly at the wall to the right of the turnstiles at the eastern end of the Ponty at 5 to 3 on a saturday, that'll be me. :(
