    I disagree.

I think he would have played 35+ games in most seasons if he'd been at any other club. Odd season when he picked up an injury he wouldn't, but not every season.

Mick McCarthy was my hero when I was a youth. Still is to be fair. Ironically, he played 272 league games for Barnsley before he went to Man City.

What you've written isn't true. It just isn't.

He’s missed months of pretty much every season injured.

According to footy journalist Fabrizio Romano he’s missed over 365 days worth of football in 7 1/2 seasons & that’s without considering that when a player first comes back from injury they’re often only fit for a cameo off the bench or their manager won’t play them twice a week until they’re back up to speed.

I think there’s only been twice when he couldn’t get in the team for a period of time. Once he was behind Kompany & Otamendi in the pecking order & another he was behind Dias & Laporte.

It’s a shame but I’d be surprised if he would have played many more games at a lesser club as City get to the latter stages of Europe & the domestic cups most seasons.

I cant remember a time when John Stones hasn't had injury issues, over his time at City especially. Would be much better thought of if not for them. Hope he doesn't go Saudi.

Yeah Stones has had a bunch of injury issues over the years, plus a few spells of poor form in his earlier City years. But he's delivered in some crucial spells for them, in particular the treble season.

He has still won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, two EFL Cups, and the UEFA Champions League as part of a historic continental treble in the 2022–23 season.

It always bemuses me when footballers constantly follow the money when they already have more than them or their kids could ever spend' if i had north of £50 mill in the bank the back end of my career would be about having fun and doing what i wanted to do rather than following the wonga.

83 caps for England too. Hardly a career wasted. I do agree though that he would have played more games at another club, but he has had a load injuries, and has been at a dominant club. He's got the chance to add another 100+ games to his career too, there's stacks of players that only get to 300-400 games in their career.

Odd to think that someone who has succeeded at the very highest level with his club and played in the biggest stage of international football as a ‘wasted’ career.

Stones has lived the dream and deserves all the success he can get.

That’s a strange take. With 400 appearances for club and country, 15 major trophies, and only 30 years old, Stones has achieved a lot already. He’s already surpassed John Terry’s total England caps at 30, and still likely has 6-7 years left at the top level. A generational talent, and to think, he’s from Barnsley!

Doubt he's 6/7 years left at the top.

Got to hope he goes to Saudi Arabia and then buys us with the money.

Not sure about up to 7 years mate, purely due to his injuries. He's more than good enough on the ball otherwise though. Think maybe 3-4 in a good league, unless he just goes for the money now.

He needs to go to Saudi for megacoin and then use the cash to buy out these 4 gimps on our board.
