Is there an element of Klopp thinking those Liverpool players couldn't go on and Slot proving him wrong?

Personally, I don't think so. I think Klopp himself told the truth when he said he was just burnt out. I do feel abit sorry for him with this City side completely dropping off this season after how close Liverpool have been for years mate

Klopp seemed to like all out attack at any costs - doesn't matter how many they conceded he felt they would score more. Doesn't work all the time.

Slot is more flexible and team seems better organised.

Klopp isn't as good as the media made him out to be. He was there nearly a decade and never won a PL title that wasn't behind closed doors. Slot will be doing that in his very first season.

I think fact slot has had zero competition this year plays a large part in them winning the league. Quite convinced klopp could've done the same with these players and this level of competition.

What relevance is ‘behind closed doors’?

Liverpool were already on 82 points when the season was delayed. They were 25 points clear & City in 2nd only had 10 games left.

I’ve seen it thrown around a few times & it makes no sense at all. They were one of the most dominant league champions this countries ever produced that season.

    Am I missing something?

After 27 games Slot has 64 points.

After 27 games last season Klopp had 63 points.

Liverpool won the league cup last season. They’re into the final this season.

What evidence is there that they’re any better this season? Aren’t they pretty much on the same level but City & Arsenal have dropped off?

I’d say Klopp did an outstanding job of replacing Matip, Henderson, Wijnaldium, Fabinho, Firminho & Mane with Konate, McAllister, Gravenberch, Szolobozai, Diaz & Gakpo. How many other managers have left a club in such a fantastic state?

The old behind closed doors chestnut ... they were over 20 points clear at the start of lockdown. They would have romped home - behind closed doors or not. Sorry didn't see Django's post

Completely agree. I think Klopp gets poorly thought of at times because a lot of people don't like him as a bloke.

A fantastic manager, a handful of points away from having 2 more league titles at least. 97 points & still finishing second. Considering the spend, and where Liverpool were & the squad he had when he took over, he did an unbelievable job. I do think he got 'lucky' getting the amount of money they did for Coutinho, but my word did they spend it well.

He’s probably the unluckiest manager in modern history when you consider twice missing out on the title whilst getting over 90 points & dropping on Real Madrid in two champions league finals.

    I definitely think it’s a personal dislike.

Salah went off pretty early in one of those finals too, didn't he? I seem to remember him getting upset coming off. Then ofcourse, the Karius situation...

He did do a great job and were great to watch. Unfortunately came up agsinst an overspending city side which was unstoppable. 115 charges against them and lots for financial breaches. Im not blaming the breaches for them winning more than klopp just that it helped.

Slot has made sure he didnt throw the baby out with the bath water and carried on and improved Klopps legacy. No big statements, no we're changing everything to do what I want , just see where tweaks are needed. Good managerial skills.

I never really liked Klopp think he was almost like a caricature of a personality.

However he got results and was clearly a great manager.

This season is more about Liverpool being solid and everyone else crumbling. If I were an Arsenal fan I'd be furious that Man City have fallen away and they have bottled it.

He did, nobbled by that dirty twohat Ramos, replaced by Llallana. Same game as the 'Karius situation'. Lost 3-1.
