I think those terraces are the ones at the end of the JD Gym entrance

Wrong side of canal for those opposite the gym Gordon. Looking at that pic the row you mean would be on the right not the left. The left could be where Old Mill Glassworks was situated.

The terrace directly over the bridge slanting downhill will probably be Canal St which is still there and ends down by the Keel Inn

No, I'm looking towards B&m from where the JD Gym now is, the canal ran down the back of B&M

Quick edit, looking at the maps yes they would be on the right hand side so l don't know if these are still there

My uncle’s funeral wake was held in the old station at Stamford Bridge. It’s great to see the old building still enjoying a useful life (and death)!

I’ve never been inside because I think it’s a private members club but you can always park on the road outside by the old crossing gates, walk along the platform, then the viaduct. The path peters out then and you have to double back towards the town, but there’s pavement all the way. Pass the monument to the famous Battle of Stamford Bridge (Yorkys v Vikings) and then back up the road to the station. It’s a very nice circular walk.

Now that's a viaduct, designed by a Brit and built by the French. We've been over it a couple of times. Absolutely stunning.

I cant quite work out whether the bridge 8n the pic is on Harborough Hill or Old Mill Lane.

I'd guess Old Mill Lane, this is a map from late 1800s and there was only two bridges. Between these two circles is the back of B&M

On further inspection, I agree if the pic and map are of a similar age. There are no houses on the H Hill Rd and the signed gable end could be the one on the traffic light junction of Old Mill Lane and Eldont St Nth.
