it's better than what we have, but that shouldn't be the benchmark IMO. what we have is not for for purpose. my worry about this type of plan has always been how it will feel when the weather is poor, and seating capacity. if people find they're turning up and can't get a seat, I imagine they might stop bothering.

Personally, if its a cost issue from the council then fair do's but scrap it don't put money into something that's not quite right for the sake, hold off until funds are available, if things can be done in the ES concourse then that might do and as suggested open redfearns back up.

This just seems a half hearted, attempt that's not quite right for the supporters needs.

It will barely get used in the winter, during a winter sport - like football

It’s not great is it? It needs to be a permanent structure, that can be used in the winter months, with an outside bit for summer use. It’s just common sense. Something the owners clearly lack.

Might as well have nothing if that’s the best they can come up with.

Plus it’s pretty pointless right now anyway. Fans are staying away, & it will worsen next season.

The idea is ok, the Stack works for Newcastle with containers but it's a lot more enclosed and on two levels. Maybe take the plans back to the drawing board to come up with a new design.

    So what's the biggest expense?

That fence we've built round it.

And what's the purpose of the fence?

    To keep folk in.

    To keep folk in what?

To keep folk in the area we've marked out by the fence.

So the fence doesn't really do anything?

    Well, no, not really.

So if we ditched the fence, it would be a lot cheaper?

If you ditched the fence you wouldn't have owt. It's basically just a fence round some space.

No point re-iterating what others have said but it seems reflective of the boards disdain of the fans.
Shane there isn’t an option to be able to use at half time too, originally plans were to move the offices and have the whole of the underneath the Ponty used, that would have been weatherproof and usable at HT

It appears that the majority response to this on here and elsewhere is negative. Mainly, it seems, because it’s another setup that is very much open to the elements (which was my one concern too).

@Gally - was the Trust involved in the development of this at all? Has there been any supporter discussion do we know?

It would be silly, no, to build something that the target audience aren’t happy with?

I think it looks pretty good! Yeah a bit exposed to the elements, but other than making it essentially a new indoor venue isn't this what we'd want?

That's the thing with all the fan zones I've seen - great as long as it's dry, but I'd rather just be at the pub if it's wet!

The issue will always be cost. What they are proposing is similar to what Man City have at the minute before their new one is built
    Screenshot_20250228-112023.png
If they tweaked the plans a bit to cover the entire area with a canopy, l can't see the costs increasing that much. Something similar to Forest

I have been previously to the one we currently have. The weather put me off so I now go into town pre match.

Looking at the plans……it doesn’t entice me to go.

I’m guessing that’s where most people stand on this.

I agree with most on here with the motto……it’s not worth doing if you don’t do it right.
