Starmer didn’t grovel. He played to Trumps sensibilities by taking the kings letter for starters. Trump is as mad a box of frogs, and Starmer played him accordingly, like ‘playing chess with a spaniel’, if you’ve ever heard that one?
what the fk was he supposed to do? Being shouted at and being treated like a naughty child by those two pillocks! He couldn’t get a word in properly!
Why be so arsey? The answer might have been to at least let the day play out instead of having Zelenskyy leave about a third into the proceedings. There was a lunch meeting and more stuff to come, but instead they piled into him and he’s gone home.
Remember when Zelensky came to the UK and accused us of not doing enough. He also sounds like someone who is as deranged when it comes to spouting off as Trump and Vance. Still no answers from anyone except keep backing and funding Ukraine until the war goes nuclear.
Absolutely no being arsey about it. But everybody is more focused on a public argument than offering up any realistic alternatives to what the US wants to do. Without compromise from Ukraine, no way this conflict ends without the war escalating and possibly going nuclear.
I wouldn’t have dealt with them in any way as I’d be a wreck. My respect for Zelenskyy is so high because I simply could never do 1% of what he’s been able to do. But a shouting match in the Oval Office made both parties look bad and will have potentially horrific consequences. I don’t have the answer, but for me Zelenskyy could have ceded a lot more ground in public today even if he didn’t behind the scenes. He’s a President of an invaded country and has been under extreme pressure for years now and I think today was the day it showed. It’s a terrible situation caused by Putin and not helped one bit by the orange buffoon Trump but today was a **** show for all involved after some incredible work from Starmer and Macron earlier in the week.
Deranged? Or a bloke whos country has been invaded and atrocities carried out against its population? What’s Trump and Vances excuse?
You're being a bit disingenuous here, but no matter what you say WW3 isn't the only alternative to what Trump is doing. You do realise that Ukraine is the west's ally right? So why is Trump putting all the pressure on them to completely roll over, and zero pressure on Russia? Despite how you may try to paint it (seemingly in some desperate attempt to big up Trump), it's not a binary choice between Trump's current strategy and WW3. You know this, so stop making yourself look daft.
It's mental how theres some people out there in the world condoning and even supporting Trumps actions today. Absolute man child just screaming into the void. The fact he's president is a sorry state for all involved.
Yep, that kind of thinking plays straight into the orange teddy boys head. He actually believes he is the one with all the cards.
I know this so stop making myself look stupid. Always the type of response from someone who has no alternative. If it's so stupid, what are the alternative options to. 1. Negotiation and compromise, even if that means losing territory and saving thousands more lives. 2. Keep on funding and sending weapons no matter the cost or impact on our own country, upping the anti like recently with the long range missiles. Then how can the war not escalate as Russia retaliate with more damaging weapons until the next thing we know it's nuke time. What is option 3. I'm not making my self look stupid, I'm asking a genuine valid question. If you haven't worked that out from the number of times I've asked for what the alternative is, then I'm afraid the stupid one is certainly you.
He's a narcissist and he's 78. He'd have been forced to retire from pretty much any other job, but it's fine to let the mental old codger have his finger on the big red button apparently. Blows my mind that there's a lower limit on presidential age at 35 but no upper limit. It should be limited to 60, at the most.
Ukraine are doomed. The whole of Europe and the US are not willing to directly oppose Putin and Russia over saving a part of Ukraine from being annexed. This is a long time tactic for Russia just taking a little piece here and a little piece there. I don't see how Ukraine can achieve anything that looks like a victory out of this horrible mess.
