Unless I misheard the lyrics, I thought it was clever. About time we had an original/different song rather than the same ones that every team chants. I liked the Roberts one too.
It’s only clever because he scored and it sounded positive after that. Prior to that it was just sarcastic and berating one of our players when we were 3-0 up.
I think berating is a bit much but yeah possibly sarcastic at first. I like Watters so I’m glad he scored and I hope he can take some confidence for the next few games at least.
I guess potentially at first but after he scored it sounded good I thought. Makes a change us not stealing songs though like all teams do. This is where someone tells me another team started singing the same chant months ago…
We didn't sign a striker But it doesn't matter 'cos we've got Max Watters Took me ages to work out what they were singing for the last 2 lines
To the tune of we didn't start the fire ...., We didn't sign a striker But it doesn't matter Cos we've got Max Watters
Not sure. Not sure it was derogatory. Tongue in cheek maybe and if it spurs him on like today, fair play.
But you've got to pronounce Watters incorrectly for it to go..... To be fair to them, only time they created any atmosphere whilst singing that song.
Potentially? It was a song aimed at our piss poor recruitment especially in the striker department and Watters was used as a scapegoat to prove that point. The fact that he came on and scored doesn't make those singing it clever At least they had the 'leeds scum' chant to fall back on and gee the lads on..
Never heard it. At Rotherham and previous games they have changed the lyrics which doesn't include JAQ
