I think it's fair to say that many people have serious reservations about this guy. I'm one of them. And then, with no one expecting much, the first thing he does when he comes on as sub is receive the ball in our half in plenty of space and just boots it up field, gifting back possession. The last thing we want to do is give back possession as we're hanging on and falling apart.

That pretty much sealed his reputation. "See, told you he was crap." It looked like a stupid thing to do by a terrible player.

Thing is, his teammate told him to do it. Or, possibly, his teammate told him to do something else, but it got lost in translation and Rodrigues interpreted it as that. Either way, as far as Rodrigues is concerned he got told to just boot the ball up field. (Apologies can't remember who it was who gave the instruction).

Rodrigues looked as baffled as the rest of us by the whole situation, but he just did what he thought he was told.

He might turn out to be completely crap, but, as bad as it looked, not because of that.

After his first touch at Stockport, someone behind me said "he's crap him" and sarcastically yelled "come on Clement" for the rest of the half any time the ball came within 30 yards of him.

It was Watters. I think it got lost in translation.

I agree but it wasn't the 'first thing he did' It was the third.
He won a decent header when he came on, and made a decent run into the area shortly after that came to nothing.
But all in all he looks a lost boy and a symbol of everything that is wrong with the recruitment team.

Out of his depth, and people on here call Dyer. I know which I prefer and it's not the one playing

In the window, someone suggested Oli Pearce from York. My first thought was a daft call, a silly suggestion and let's see what happens.
    Rodrigues happened.
He was, on the face of it, such a bizarre signing that I would retrospectively take Pearce in a heartbeat. At least he's played proper men's football in the strongest League system in Europe.

Am sure Clem is a lovely bloke, and he's a braver man than me taking a job in a foreign country. Poor fella looked lost yesterday, and without French-speaking MDG and Farrugia that bench must have been a lonely place.

I really dont think he looks that bad yes the hoof up field wasnt the smartest thing to do but it was clearly a translation issue, he made a couple good runs just wasnt found and won a good header with a decent leap of the ground just after coming on I certainly dont see any kind of lack of effort looks quick and happy to press would not be surprised to see this one come good which im surprised to say because i wasnt happy with the signing initially.

appreciate im more than in a minority here lol

He was never one for this season as strange as that sounds. The lad come from another country doesn't speak a word of English and he's come from a standard of football that I guess is similar to league 1 at best. The chances of him hitting the ground running scoring 10 goals and leading us to the playoffs were slim to non in my book.

I thought this when he came on yesterday. When he signed it was said he can't speak a word of English but had MDG & Farrugia with him who were fluent in French. Neither played yesterday, so how the f.ck is he meant to communicate with folk?

I thought he looked alright when he came on but he's always fighting an uphill battle because of the lingo. Which, again, makes you question the signing.

A bit the same.e as the foreign bus drivers stagecoach set on. Ask them a question all you get is a shrug of the shoulders

Fingers crossed. Patrick scored some vital goals in the division above.

That's a relief. Assuming he's not suddenly going to turn in prime Maco Van Basten. Although even prime Marc Richards would be a start.

I like your confidence that he will score as many as 3 goals for us.

Four year contract like when we signed Watters after a loan.

My mate who goes a couple of times a season text me after the match to confirm he's a professional footballer.

Seen him on the pitch 4 times now, albeit not for that long each time, and he's looked like a competition winner each time. No lack of effort but absolutely no idea what to do.
