Why would he want an experienced older coach to help him.?He's knocking on 50 with nearly 700 games as a coach. An "experienced helper" is the last thing he'd need or want.
Well I'm not really any wiser after reading all these interesting views. My gut instinct for a while has been to stick with him, have the recruitment team listen to him and back him in January and this coming summer with what he wants. I dont feel that was done in January and that to me is down largely to Sormaz. Will this summer be any different? I dont know. If he gets who he really wants (3-4 players at least) then we should be able to say 'this guy is a good manager' or 'this guy is a kak manager'. If he's let down again Im not sure Id be able to do that. In an extreme example..... If Clarke was given a squad of players who all had one leg it wouldn't be fair to slag him off if they lost every match would it? So, although I'm still not convinced its back him properly or sack him for me (I think)
He should go based on poor recruitment, look at what we got in January mate for evidence of this. I am sure our board didn’t say go and sign a load crap surely.
You wouldn’t think so but equally he could have been given a budget to work too and a brief at the start of the season to cut playing costs as an example but we don’t see that side of stuff. I’m not disagreeing that the recruitment has been disappointing to put it mildly just saying we can’t tell if he’s doing a good job or not as we don’t actually know what he has been tasked to do.
The thing I struggle with about Clarke is he asked to be judged after three transfer windows. His first two have been dire.
He also may be under the impression that by the 3rd window he would have got what he wanted. And I'm pretty sure he's no where near getting what he's actually asked for. And will he ever get that more to the point. What isn't in his favour right now is the predictable subs he makes. You look at the bench and instantly know at some point who is going to come off and who is going on. But our lack of strength in depth (and 1st 11 for that matter) is probably giving him a negative view from the fan base, because there's only so many ways you can chop and change this squad.
Someone posted the other day that we had 8 players out injured or suspended.I didn't check it but if thats true most teams would look a lot weaker especially on the bench.
I flipped that stat on its head too. We've that many out injured and suspended but up to now are still in the hunt. That shows how strong our squad is not weak.
