Has it been clarified what the tariffs are on?

Is it everything imported or just a finished product/service?

 

Apparently he’s dropped them for the automotive industry for a month but it would have been every time a part crossed the border. Sounds like the big auto firms in the US have had to get involved to get Trump to move. God knows what happens at the end of the month.

 

It's a flat tariff applied to any imports. As mentioned by mido, the automotive industry have clearly outlined how disastrous it is for their sector, so they've been paused for a month. China, Mexico and Canada appear to be responding in kind but more targeted on particular products and sectors, at least to start with.

It's unhinged thinking and will hurt his own country hugely. I can only think he expects mass production to quickly occur in the US to replace lost imports, but somehow believe other countries will buy US products so US become a net exporter. I'm not sure I see that happening.

 

Could be exporting loads of stuff to Ukraine in exchange for dirt.

 

There's certainly tonnes of rubble to be collected.

Hitler..Remove any opposition in high places in Govt military judiciary and disregard legal constitutional precedents replacing them with loyal supporters

Hitler... Ensure you have wealthy industrialists etc on board to bankroll your plans. e.g. Krup, Schacht etc

Trump Ensure you have wealthy billionaires. ,on board. e.g. Musk, Bezos Zuckerberg etc.

History repeating itself.. hopefully ending I the same ( minus a WW obviously,,,)

The ones equally to blame for the way things are going are GOP. who are too cowardly to stand up to the bullying (and whilst there are those who actually believe the lies he spouts there are sufficient numbers within the Republicans who, combined with the more rational Democrats, could stop him in his tracks.

This will not surprise anyone, Musk is asking Trump to pardon Derek Chauvin the man who killed George Floyd, my guess is it will happen. Trump has also said anyone demonstrating about Gaza will be arrested

He's now said he wouldn't aid Taiwan if it was attacked by China. A long term US agreement.

You really have to wonder if the butchering of costs and stepping away from potential conflict and future cost is to generate surplus which suddenly gets channelled and siphoned to cronies and the Trump estate.
