You really think Mac will want to come here, as a Coach for a start, and not as a manager. And then be told to get a tune out of a poor squad of players, with hardly any backing in the transfer 'windows'.
Nothing wrong with the “Barnsley FC is in the wrong hands” chant. Never takes off though, you can hardly hear it. Apathy rules to point that fans can’t even muster a protest chant. Empty seats will be main protest.
I said him as manager with Conor as assistant. And yeah - get a tune out of a poor squad. Like he's done for twenty years to varying degrees. Or make what he's got better.
This is such an important point. We've never had a perfect squad with top players throughout and a full bench of world beaters. Our coaches always have to work under restrictions and get the best out of what they have. The ones that have been a success and we still talk about and love are the ones that did just that. Val, Hecky, Robins, Ritchie, Stendel etc. have all had success in my lifetime watching and all got the best out of what they had. None had perfect teams, all had weak links or players that were signed on cheap from who knows where, but worked with what they had and found ways of winning. Clarke doesn't fall anywhere near that. Yes he's got some particularly poor players at his disposal, and yes he's working for a board thats ***** and a DOF that is clearly not good enough either. But he's not getting the best out of what we have and is being out coached week in week out. Big Mick and Warnock etc. have all made a living at other clubs getting the most out of what they have. We need someone like that to come in. Cos no one is going to get major backing and a new top level L1 squad bought for em.
Just listened to his interview. Blame laid at players door again. Maybe he's right - but it's his job to sort it. And if it keeps happening, it's down to him.
I can understand fans kicking out and needing to vent their frustrations somewhere. It shows they care and want the best to happen for their club which is having a pretty torrid time currently. I wonder if the players are been “over-coached” instead of allowing them to play with their natural in-built flair. After all they could all play decent football once upon a time perhaps?
Desperate DC keen to keep his golden goose laying her golden eggs every week, always deflect the blame eh
Neil Warnock said in his chat with Pep on Sky that he always knew he managed teams that didn’t have the best players in the league he was in. So he knew that he had to get his players to work hard, bust a gut, run through walls for him. So one thing he could never do was throw his players under a bus, or his entire strategy would fail - they had to respect him and know he had their backs. We haven’t got very good players, that’s down to the recruitment team, but we also haven’t got a manager with a clue on how to make the best of them. Throwing them under the bus weekly is not what he needs to be doing.
I am not shocked they don't wanna work and run for him with the way he hangs em out to dry in interviews every week. Always tells us he's worked hard and the other coaches have worked hard all week and it's always players that are in wrong.
Something has to change. We are absolutely clueless. Hopefully thats why he was there today At least your lad enjoyed himself
Yeah I know you did, but one of my criticisms against them, is they only hire Coaches these days. Not old fashioned type Managers, and surely Mick wouldn't touch a job like this with a barge pole!.
He came as a player coach and lasted two minutes. If he's the highest paid coach we have,, he's pinching his money.
Well that would really surprise me to be honest. So IF he did then, surely he'd want to be a Manager for a start. And he'd want to bring in his own choices as assistant and coaches ?. And how 'hands on' would this lot be, would Mick really be comfortable working with that.
