When things go wrong, pop out the local lad to speak the words fans want to hear.

Finished article? He’ll never be that.

He would only ever be good enough to be our number one keeper if we were playing in league two or national league.

That is a possibility in the next few years - though as bad as things are we should have the means to avoid that.

The first has come through 4 defenders surrounding the scorer. Shot should've been blocked but should be saved. 2nd one maybe could've come to claim but neither Killip or Slonina were the best at claiming crosses.
The 3rd was a decent stop and O'Keefe being slow to react to clear

I wouldn't say he's been any better or worse than the other keepers after a couple of games with Gauci as the exception as he's far better on crosses than all of them combined. He was our 3rd choice at the start of the season after all.

Too many of the squad are currently playing at a level that is above their ability levels. To put it simply they aren't good enough to play week in week out in League 1 added to this the head coach is also not up to the job of coaching a L1 side.

Especially as Clarke named Robbo as being exempt from his criticism during his interview.

While this is true, he wasn't asked about the coach (or the coaching or the tactics) he was taking responsibility for the poor performance and stating it was, collectively, the fault of the players.

If he had a problem with the coach, he would not have said what he did.

It was the worst game I've ever seen Connell have yesterday.

And yet it got even worse after he went off.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was the only midfielder who put in a tackle yesterday. Russell acts like he will but doesn't. Nwakali actively avoids it and I think Benson is very unfortunate to not be given a start now he's found some fitness.

Have a look at whose beaten us at home, a bad squad is an excuse for losing to top end Birmingham / Wrexham etc but not the bottom half, we’ve not put away so many teams down the bottom end with worse squads and lower budgets than ourselves that is on him. A poor squad is also an excuse when you’ve played reasonably well and been beaten by individual quality - don’t see it as an excuse for being completely utterly embarrassing in all departments of the pitch

I don’t think it’s fair to discuss Connell without considering the serious illness he has.

I’ve said it before on here but it was over two seasons before Mark Cavendish started performing again after he started with the same illness.

Anyone who’s even played 5 a side will tell you that when you’re fatigued you struggle to hit passes & shots with the same quality as you do when you’re fresher.

I’m not even a big Connell fan, I always felt he was the weakest of the three when it came to him, Phillips & Kane but I feel like he’s got to be defended.

According to who scored our top 4 tackles were
Farrugia, Mccarthy, Russell and Roberts. Connell was poor and blackpool had plenty of chances when he was on the field his passing was worse than usually.
