For the Fanzone I’d say yes because the planned one looks poor anyway. For the safe standing, no. Was impressed with both at Mansfield yesterday, put us to shame (not difficult tbf). The bar under their main stand was first class. Organised quick service, decent prices and plenty of seats with a live game showing on several screens. If Mansfield can do it why can’t we? Pathetic on and off the pitch.
Continual ignoring the fan experience and expecting sheep to turn up is a sure fire way to end up in adminstration
I knew someone would pick up on that. Not necessarily administration but it's a sure fire way to see us go out of business. Not straight away but eventually
I don't know if you went yesterday mate. But Mansfield must have made a lot of coin. Massive marquee. Seperate Bar outside and Bar inside. Hundreds of fans. Safe Standing I think would boost the atmosphere.
I’m not daft enough to know that things are poor at the moment but are things really this bad that we’re talking about administration and going out of business? There’s a lot of things that need righting but a don’t think things are broke beyond repair either
As already mentioned both are funded by the capex project associated with the lease deal with the council so its not an actual a choice that can be made.
Im genuinely worried that we are close to complete collapse. Over the years people around me have always left and given up their tickets in dribs and drabs but the majority have stuck around through thick and thin. this season half the season ticket holders near me simply don't turn up to games and the ones who do have pretty much all expressed that they need to give serious thoughts about renewing. We are so perilously close to losing thousands of fans and we can't sustain that.
Wasn't you one of Patrick's biggest critics on here? Hated the spreadsheet and signing young players? Bet you wish we could go back to those times, recruitment using data and a plan local fan owner who never went missing. Apologies if you weren't.
I don't believe for one second that we've abandoned using data. We still take a scatter gun approach to signing a dozen cheap players and hoping one is any good. there are only two differences. one is the budget is lower so the quality is too. The other is a stupid sporting director who thinks signing 50 wingers and lying that they're strikers is acceptable
How anyone can think players like oulare, Benson, iseka, Cosgrove, Humphrys etc were topping charts on data analysis for any positive attributes I'll never know. The recruitment is chalk and cheese to the one you criticised Patrick for not signing experience, well you got your wish we have loads of experience.
I'm pretty sure Benson's stats would have been excellent. He's been massively unlucky with injuries, but he's a very capable footballer. So is Humphrys to be honest, but his application seems to be severely lacking.
Bensons only competitive football before us came with Grimsby in league 2 apart from that Burnleys u21s Burnleys fans on X said it would be a big step up. Not sure what stats Humphrys would have been hitting he did OK at wigan last season scored 5 goals all season. Same with Marc Roberts he hadn't played that much football the seasons before joining so again hardly data driven.
No commercial leases don't work like that. The tenant is responsible for the upkeep of the property and if the tenant wants to improve the property they can but at their expense. So even a brand new West Stand would have to be financed by the club not the council even though the new structure would belong to the council not the club. Any contribution by the landlord in this case BMBC would be voluntary in which case given the current state of Council finances highly unlikely and even with better council finances the fact it would be at best controversial with any council tax payers who aren't fans of BFC still highly unlikely.
