Think we are averaging around 52% Last season we averaged 462 passes per game only Bolton and Posh had a higher game average. At least we're in the top 6 for some things this season like Offsides 6th and being Dispossessed in possession 2nd, Shots on Target 2nd.
I'm amazed any team has surrendered possession more than us to be honest. It's insane how easily we give the ball away.
Somaz also said the French lad and Lewis where both strikers when in fact both are wingers so I wouldn't believe him if he said the sky was blue and water was wet to be honest
Against Lincoln at home we adopted a high pressing style. We executed it quite well up to being 4-1 up. Then a combination of fatigue and player ability caused us to be hanging on to the points at the end. A similar thing happened at home v Crawley where, thanks to the heroics of Killip, we kept a clean sheet but so easily could have drawn 3.3
Then the DoF is even more incompetent than I thought if he's recruited players to play the high pressing game because its quite clear that the current lot aren't capable of playing it.
Spot on we were garbage on both occasions after Clarke made needless subs. He did the same against Northampton at home too.
I thought that Michael Duff was our best recent appointment and that was because he had kudos and street-cred amongst players of several clubs, which was what helped him to recruit what he knew he needed in quality and experienced players in key positions. So we got Nicky Cadden on a free from Forest Green as an experienced left wing back when he could have reportedly gone to Bristol City. We got James Norwood as a battle hardened centre forward. We pinched Bobby Thomas from his loan at Bristol Rovers because Duff knew him from his Burnley coaching days. We need to appoint someone who has that level of kudos, but at league one level. Someone who is respected by players from previous clubs and can bring in quality players in key positions because he knows them already. A manager who is not currently employed can 'tap up' such players by casual conversation without being accused of poaching because they are not under contract. Having said all of that, Duff would be a sound reappointment, as long as the fan--base would forgive him. He knows this league through his Huddersfield experience and through his time with us. Paul Warne is another who fits the bill and who has the right contacts. I would not think Page is the right profile at all. He might prove himself again with a league two club such as Newport, but not for us. It is just going to perpetuate the downward spiral if we are getting players from data only, especially when that data has been achieved at levels lower than our current status. It is unlikely to help either if we look to European leagues unless the player is proven and well scouted. I always thought that Hourihane would be head coach in waiting after Clarke's two years, but he has been pitched into the same mess as Clarke was. He will certainly have proved himself if he manages to turn round our fortunes and performances in the rest of this season. I wouldn't rule him out, but he has ten games to prove himself. In a lot of ways, I hope he does, but the dice is cast against him with the current squad.
It’s gonna be a name we’re familiar with who has a fair amount of management experience at three of the four divisions in England. Mark my words.
So you're saying the board have already identified the new head coach ? Assuming they're out of work ?
I've said the exact same. Clarke arranged for a fitness coach with a great track record in the championship to come in & arrived at training to find they had appointed someone else behind his back. He then had to go back & apologise to the coach. Embarrassing
